Abstract
The purpose of this study has two folds: (1) to synthesize coaching process and coach's behaviors through a review of the literature published for the last decade (2) finally to identify the degree of practice of proposed coaching process and coaches' behaviors in organizational setting. To address these purposes, two different research methods were used: two-round delphi survey and a questionnaire survey. Through the literature review, four steps for coaching and thirty six coaching behaviors that are expected for coaches to conduct. Content validity was established by two round delphi survey: 4 steps for coaching and 35 coaching behaviors (one behavior item was excluded). Through a questionnaire, this study was checked the extent to which coaches are performing each coaching behavior. As a result, almost of all behaviors are frequently performed by coaches. However, 20 coaching behaviors need to be highlighted because their values are higher than the mean value(M=4.44) of all coaching behaviors. Also three behaviors may not be viewed as the essential coaching behaviors because the relatively lowest mean scores were shown. To establish criterian related validity, this study conducted t test and calculated Pearson correlation coefficient. In terms of the degree of performing coaching behaviors, there was no difference according to gender. And there was no (or very weak) relationship between coaching behaviors and the years of coaching experience. Finally, based upon the results, this study proposed some theoretical and practical implications.
