조선조 문인의 蘇東坡 인물 및 산문에 대한 평가

조선조 문인들의 蘇東坡 인물평은 두 가지로 분류할 수 있다. 긍정적인 평가로는소동파를 ‘호걸의 선비’로 ‘和而不同’하다고 하였으며, 부정적인 평으로는 ‘禮樂을없애고 名敎를 파괴하였다.’, ‘학술이 올바르지 않다.’, ‘大本을 어지럽히고, 權謀를숭상하며, 예의염치를 모른다.’ 등이 있다. 이외에 ‘문장과 節行은 선비라고 할 수있으나 朋黨을 나누었으며’, ‘강직한 名臣이지만, 경박하였으며’, ‘문장은 천하의奇才’라고 한 것 등 장단점을 포괄한 평론도 있다. 소동파의 산문에 대한 평가도 크게 두 가지로 나뉠 수 있다. 긍정적 평가로는 ‘호방’하며, ‘천년이래의 絶唱’이고, ‘文氣가 뛰어나며’, ‘千古에 짝할 자가 없다.’는평이 있다. 부정적 평가로는 ‘불교의 輪回說이 문장에 나타나며’, 소동파를 ‘異端’이며 ‘儒敎를 좀먹는 좀벌레’라고 한 것이 있다. 고려에 관련해서는 소동파를 ‘어질지 못하고, 용맹스럽지 못하고, 지혜가 밝지 못한’, ‘小人’으로 매도한 것도 있다. 이외에도 ‘문장은 혁혁하나 正學이 아니다.’라는 평이 있다. 부정적 평도 적지 않은 것은, ‘말을 삼갈 줄 모르는’ 소동파의 天性, 누차 고려를배척한 점, 程頤와 소동파를 중심으로 대립한 洛蜀黨爭, 그리고 소동파의 불교․노장사상 애호 등과 연계성이 있기 때문이다. 조선 중기 程朱學의 유행으로 소동파를강력하게 비판한 朱熹의 학설도 조선조 문인의 소동파에 대한 부정적 평가에 큰 영향을 주고 있다.
Abstract
There are two types of personal remarks about Su Dongpo made by many prominent literary men of Choseon Dynasty. One of favorable viewpoints is that Su Dongpo was ‘a scholar and an extraordinary man’ who is ‘'harmonious but disparate’, whereas other negative ones include the followings: ‘He ruined rites and music and demolished The Ethical Norms of Any Society (Confucianism).", ‘His scientific research was wrong.’, ‘He disturbed the root as a schemer and ignored a sense of shame.' and the like. Still, other compromising comments about him can be found in the following: 'His proses and abstinent behaviors might be a literati-scholar's but he cliqued together.', and 'He was a celebrated subject of integrity, yet of frivolity.' At any rate, it can be stated that he was a genius in the world of writing.'Remarks about Su Dongpo's prose can be classified into two. One of the positive comments on his work is that 'his prose is audacious and never falls behind any other works in a millennium, and he was outstanding in literary disposition and no one had been equal to him in all ages.' Yet, one of negative comments is that 'His prose comprises Transmigrationism of Buddhism so he is a spoiling worm of Confucianism as well as a heresy.'Remarks about the consideration denounced Su Dongpo as be weak righteous, be bad courageous, be short of wisdom and person who is petty and crafty. In addition, one of compromising remarks is that 'His writings are brilliant yet unorthodox.' Not a few negative views on him are internally related to Su Dongpo's disposition of 'talking indiscretion', exclusion of reconsideration, Luo Shu Party Strife that is opposed to Cheng Yi and Su Dongpo, and Su Dongpo's favor for Buddhism and Taoism.
