고려 중기 북송 신유학 전래 再論― 『宋史・楊時列傳』의 “(高麗)國主問龜山安在” 記事 분석

본고는 『宋史』・「楊時列傳」에 보이는 “때마침 고려에 사행을 다녀온 자가 있었는데, 고려 국왕이 龜山선생은 어디에 계시는가라고 물었다.[會有使高麗者, 國主問龜山安在.]”라는 일화의 변증을 통해 북송 성리학의 초기 수용 문제를 종합적으로 재검토한 것이다. 먼저 楊時의 존재가 고려 지식계에 인식된 경로는 당시 북송을 빈번하게 왕래하던 고려 사절단, 그리고 고려에 귀화한 북송 지식인일 가능성을 제기했다. 다만 「楊時列傳」에 보이는 ‘楊時東傳’의 일화는 당시 북송 사절단의 副使 傅墨卿이 귀국 후에 徽宗에게 楊時를 천거하는 과정에서 정치적 필요에 의해 인위적으로 삽입된 것으로 추정했다. 따라서 이제까지 ‘楊時東傳’의 일화를 근거로 제기되어왔던 북송 신유학의 초기 수용 문제는 재고되어야 한다.
Abstract
This paper comprehensively reviews the early acceptance of Neo-Confucianism in the Northern Song Dynasty through the textual research of the "Koryo King asked What official position is Guishan in(國主問龜山安在)" in the "Biography of Yang Shi(楊時東傳)" in the book of History of Song Dynasty(宋史). This article argues that Yang Shi's existence was probably recognized by the Koryo intellectuals through exchanges with the Koryo diplomatic corps in the Northern Song Dynasty and by the scholars and officials of the Northern Song Dynasty who naturalized to Koryo. The "King asked if Guishan is safe" appeared in the biography of Yang Shi may be added in the process of introducing to Huizong of the Song Dynasty by Fu Moqing(傅墨卿), the Deputy envoy of the Northern Song Dynasty's diplomatic corps. Therefore, the early acceptance of Neo-Confucianism in the Northern Song Dynasty should be re-examined.
