본고는 6세기 신라 금석문 9종 11건을 대상으로 이들에 쓰인 고유명사 표기자들에 대한 분석을 토대로 성모・운모・성조 등의 분포적인 측면에서 이들이 지닐 수 있는 음운사적 의의, 특히 고대 한국한자음 연구에 이바지할 수 있는 바들에 대한 고찰을 시도함에 목표를 둔 것이다. 2장에서는 기존에 발굴된 6세기 신라 금석문들 중에서 훼손이 심하거나, 고유명사 표기례의 숫자가 충분치 않아 본고의 논의 자료로는 적합하지 않은 것으로 판단되는 “북한산・황초령 진흥왕순수비 및 경주 남산신성 3・4・5・6・7・8・10비”를 제외한 “포항 중성리비(501)~경주 남산신성 1・2・9비(591)”에 이르는 11종의 금석문들에 대한 원문 구조 분석, 고유명사 표기례 수집 및 표기자 정리 등 일련의 과정을 상세히 보인 것이다. 3장에서는 2장에서 수집・정리된 각 비문별 고유명사 표기자의 성모 분포도, 운모 분포도, 성조 분포도 및 疑・來母字 분포도 등을 바탕으로 ①무기음(전청) vs. 유기음(차청)의 비율, ②무성음(전청+차청) vs. 유성음(전탁+차탁)의 비율, ③설두음 vs. 설상음의 비율, ④치두음 vs. 정치음의 비율(이상 성모편), ⑤음성운 vs. 양성운 vs. 입성운의 비율 및 개음절 vs. 폐음절의 비율, ⑥성조의 분포(이상 운모편), ⑦음소 분포 제약 등의 지표들에 대하여 고유명사 표기자의 분포적 특징 및 흐름을 살펴본 것이다. 논의 결과 신라한자음은 6세기 전반에는 광개토왕비문으로 대표되는 5세기 고구려한자음과의 공통성을 유지해오다가 6세기 후반에 들어 몇 가지 차이점들이 나타나면서 점차 신라화의 길을 걸어온 것으로 결론을 내렸다.
Abstract
Based on the analysis of sinographs for proper nouns used in 11 kinds of Silla epigraphs in the 6th century, in terms of the distribution such as of initials, finals, and tones, this paper aims to study their phonological historical significance, and especially to examine what can contribute to research on Ancient Sino-Korean. In Chapter 2, I have analyzed the original text structure of 11 kinds of epigraphs in "Jungseong-ri, Pohang, stele(501) to Gyeongju Nam-san Sinseong Fortress 1・2・9 steles (591)", collected proper noun notations, and arranged sinographs, except for "Bukhan-san and Hwangcho-ryeong King Jingheung's commemoration steles and Gyeongju Nam-san Sinseong Fortress 3・4・5・6・7・8・10th steles", because of their be severely damaged or poor in in the number of proper noun examples than those. In Chapter 3, based on individual epitaphs' sionographs for proper nouns' initials, finals and tones distribution and yimu and laimu characters(疑・來母字) distribution, as collected and arranged in Chapter 2, I have examined the characteristics and flow of the distribution of sinographs for proper nouns in terms of the same indicators and methodologies as in Part 2 of Kwon(2015), such as ①the ratio of unaspirated sounds vs. aspirated sounds, ②the ratio of voiceless sounds(voiceless unaspirated sounds+ voiceless aspirated sounds) vs. voiced sounds(voiced obstruents+voiced sonorants), ③the ratio of apico-alveolar plosives(舌頭音) vs. dorso-prepalatal plosives(舌上音), ④the ratio of dental sounds vs. post-alveolar sounds, ⑤the ratio of open syllable sounds vs. nasal-ending sounds vs. stop-ending sounds, and the ratio of open syllables vs. closed syllables, ⑥the distribution of tones, and ⑦phoneme distribution constraints. In Chapter 4, I have concluded as follows: the first half of the 6th century Sino-Silla system maintained commonality with that of 5th century Sino-Goguryeo represented by King Gwanggaeto's stele before they were gradually assimilated into Sino-Silla with some differences in the late 6th century.
