李玉 『一捧雪』의 人物形像 硏究

Abstract

LiYu, who produced his major works during the period from the end of Ming Dynasty to the beginning of Qing Dynasty, has earned high reputation among the critics with his strong realism in the works. Among his works, “Yi Peng Xue” deals with the hidden story of fightings between “Yan” family and “Wang” family to get the antique. In this work, his strong inclination towards realism is well revealed in his description of corruption in governing classes, including “Yan” family. The main purpose of this paper is to examine how well the personalities of major characters, Mo Huai Gu, Tang Qin, Mo Cheng and Xue Yan are realized in this work. For this purpose, first, I divided the major characters into four categories according to their typical characteristics and tried to find the traits of each category. In addition, I examined whether some of them are recreated as persons of unique personality. That is, I examined whether their personalities escaped from the limit of stereotyped character. At the same time, I tried to find out the inherent traits of each character's personality as well as other personal uniqueness by the comparison of characters in the same category and different category. To sum up, each character in “Yi Peng Xue” has his own personality that is well-matching with the inherent characteristic, and such successful realization of characters’ personality greatly contributed to the effective expression of the theme of this work.
