이글의 목적은 대동문화연구원이 개원 이래 지금까지 펼쳐온 학술활동을 사학사적인 관점에서 소개하고 그 의의를 평가하는 데 있다. 대동문화연구원은 개원 이래 식민사관을 극복하고 한국사의 정체성을 확립하려는 목적에서 논문집 발간, 단행본 간행, 학술회의 개최, 자료집 간행, 고전 자료의 전산화 등과 같은 다양한 학술활동을 진행해 왔다. 대동문화연구원의 학술활동은 한국사 연구 활성화에 크게 기여하였지만 대동문화연구원의 고유한 학문영역을 개척하는 데까지는 나아가지 못했다. 앞으로 국내외 연구소의 학술활동에 대해 비교우위를 가질 수 있는 연구영역을 선택한 다음 지속적인 관심과 아낌없는 지원을 할 필요가 있다. 왜냐하면 오늘날 세계역사학계는 미래 사회를 설계하는 데 도움이 되는 연구성과를 요구하고 있기 때문이다. 주제어성균관대학교, 대동문화연구원, 대동문화연구, 학문분야의 선택, 연구역량의 집중
Abstract
This paper aims to introduce and evaluate the academical activities of Daedong Institute for Korean Studies from its foundation to present in the historical point of view. The Daedong Institute for Korean Studies is in prog ress of publication of academical journal, books, sourcebooks, holding confer ences and data-basing on classical materials in the purpose of overcom ing colonial historical view and to establish identification of Korean history. Although Daedong Institute for Korean Studies has made outstanding contrib utions to activate research of Korean history, but it couldn't break new ground its own research field. It is necessary to select academic field to hold a domi nant position in the future on the academical activities of the institutes in ho me and abroad, as well as to constant concern with generous support. For pr esent world academic historical circle demands helpful research results to draw up a future society plan.
