초록
본 연구에서는 두 가지 과학적 소양 검사 도구, TBSL(Test of Basic Scientific Literacy)과SLT(Scientific Literacy Test)를 사용하여 중학생과 고등학생의 과학적 소양을 측정하고, 그 결과가어떻게 나타나는지 살펴보았다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out whether tests of science literacy evaluate science literacy with accuracy or not. In order to achieve the goal, I measured the science literacy of middle and high school students with TBSL(Test of Basic Scientific Literacy) and SLT(Scientific Literacy Test), and analyzed how accurate each test of science literacy determines the existence of it in various field of science literacy. Participants of this study were 199 middle school and 195 high school students. In processing test results, independent-samples T-test was conducted with SPSS 12.0. The result of the research are as follows. First, The result by TBSL was higher than standard score, therefore could be analyzed that the students had the science literacy. However, the SLT result in attitude toward science, severely lower than the result by Manhart's study, could lead to the analysis that the students are lack of the science literacy. Second, In high school the students, the result by TBSL was higher than standard score, therefore could be analyzed that the students had the science literacy. Comparing the SLT result with the result by Manhart’s study, however, indicated that the students of liberal art were deficient in the science literacy for science knowledge, and so were all students of both art in science literacy for attitude toward science. In conclusion, by this research I found out that TBSL and SLT could analyze the existence of the science literacy different, and believe that the result of this research can help to develop a methodology or tool to measure the science literacy with more accuracy.
