Abstract
This study developed a scenario-based assessment tool designed to evaluate high school students’ challenge and perseverance in learning mathematics. Researchers established definitions and sub-components of both challenge and perseverance, understanding them as part of a larger concept “passion for doing mathematics” and the definitions were validated by experts through two rounds of Delphi surveys. Based on the validated definitions, it established the basis for creating scenario-based assessment items. The content validity of these items was also confirmed via two rounds of the Delphi surveys. To evaluate the structural validity of the assessment items, a pilot test was conducted with 503 students and the Rasch model was applied to data from the students. Lastly, the researchers developed feedback based on the assessment results to support students' learning in mathematics, focusing on their challenge and perseverance.
