국내 은행산업의 효율성 분석 - 비용함수 및 이윤함수 접근 -

초록

1999~2007년 국내 은행들의 자료를 사용해 트랜스로그 형태의 비용함수와 이윤함수를 추정하고, 이를 바탕으로 효율성 지표를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 해당 기간에 대해 국내 은행들은 전반적으로 비용 및 이윤 측면에서 모두 효율적인 운영을 한 것으로 나타났으며, 전국-지역 여부와 은행 규모에 따라 어느 정도 흥미로운 차이가 발견되었다.

Abstract

We estimate translog cost and profit functions for Korean commercial banks for 1997~2007 and analyze efficiency measures based on the estimation results. We find that Korean banks have been mostly efficient both in cost and profit terms since the financial crisis, but there are some interesting differences across the types of banks (national vs regional, large vs small).
