초록
The purpose of this study was to examine stressors among Korean international students in the United States and to provide an item pool for developing a multidimensional scale to measure stress among Korean international students. A combination of qualitative and quantitative methods was used. Based on qualitative method, an initial pool of 53 statements to describe various personal experiences and perspectives was generated. The results suggest that the identified stressors of Korean students are distributed along the axis of "intra-to-extra school" dimension. Using two-dimensional MDS, the identified stressors of Korean students are distributed along the axis of "intra-to-extra school" dimension. Final cluster analysis solution revealed five clusters of stressors: "language barrier," "financial concern," "discrimination," "isolation," and "cultural deprivation." This finding suggests that further research on Korean students’ stressors should take the intra-to-extra school dimension as well as the five domains of stressors in developing an instrument
