18세기 말 관념론이 낭만 청취 미학에 미친 영향 연구

본 논문에서는 기악의 위상이 1790-1810년이라는 짧은 시간 동안 어떻게 급부상하게 되었는지를 살펴보았다. 특별히 18세기말 관념론의 부활을 낭만 청취 미학 발생의 주요 동인으로 제시한 본즈의 논의 틀을 참조하여 검토해 보았다. 먼저 18세기말 관념론 부활에 기여한 철학자들은 어떤 이들이었는지, 그들의 이론이 어떻게 낭만 청취 미학으로 연결될 수 있는지와 함께 연결 고리 역할을 했던 주요 개념들을 살펴보았다. 다음 단계에서는 관념론의 영향을 직접 받은 낭만 미학 저술가들의 글을 통해 어떻게 음악에 대한 기본 전제와 그에 따른 청취 태도가 변화했는지를 집중적으로 살펴보았다. 그 결과 18세기 말-19세기 초 기악의 위상 변화가 베토벤과 같은 작곡가의 등장이나 기악 레퍼토리의 발전 보다는, 음악 미학관의 변화에서 먼저 시작되었음을 확인했다.
Abstract
This paper investigated how the status of instrumental music was rapidly changed during a relatively short span of time, 1790-1810. Especially Mark Evan Bond’s argument that the resurgence of idealism in the late eighteenth century would be the main resource of a romantic musical aesthetics was examined. First of all, the representative philosophers who contributed to the revival of idealism in the late eighteenth century were investigated. Second, the main ideas and theories of these philosophers were re-examined. Third, the process that idealist theories were transferred to contemporary writers in music was investigated. Fourth, through the writings of early romantic writers influenced by idealism, their basic premises and listening attitudes towards music were reviewed in detail. As a result, it is found that the emerging status of instrumental music during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries owes much to the change of aesthetic viewpoint rather than to a certain composer such as Beethoven or the instrumental repertoire of that time.
