관현악 발췌곡의 연습교재 활용을 위한 분석적 접근

오케스트라 발췌곡(Orchestral Excerpts)은 교향곡, 서곡 같은 관현악곡에서 각각의 파트가 담당하는 부분을 발췌한 것을 말한다. 음악적 테크닉과 함께 음악적 이해를 평가하는 데 유용하기 때문에 평가 도구로 사용될 뿐만 아니라, 다양한 유형의 오디션에서 항상 요구되는 항목 중 하나이다. 하지만, 음악대학 전공자들조차 정규 교육과정 안에서 오케스트라 발췌곡에 노출되는 경우는 매우 한정적이다. 교재 또한 매우 한정되어, 오케스트라 오디션에서 발췌한 악곡을 모아놓은 발췌본이 있지만, 악곡이나 연습 방법에 대한 지침을 제시하지는 않는다. 이번 연구는 오케스트라 오디션에서 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 오케스트라 발췌곡 8곡을 선별하여 이들 발췌악곡이 일반적으로 요구하는 음악적, 테크닉적 논의와 함께, 관련 문헌, 연주 CD분석과 함께, 전문가의 의견을 수렴하여 각각의 연습 방법을 제시하여 연습교재로서의 가능성을 살펴보고자 한다. 이는 테크닉적 향상과 음악적 역량 강화에 도움을 줄 수 있는 지침서로서 기존의 연습교재(Etude)를 보충할 수 있는 새로운 연습교재로서의 가능성에 대한 아이디어를 제시할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
Violinists often are not often exposed to orchestral excerpts as part of their regular education until their studies in college. Orchestral excerpts are frequently required for various types of auditions. Playing orchestral excerpts has been the preferred method to evaluate a musician’s technique and musical understanding since orchestral excerpts offer technical challenges and, at the same time, incorporate musical elements. However, pedagogical resources on the orchestral excerpts available are merely collection of repertoire and sufficient instructions on developing specific techniques and the relationship to its musical content have been left out. This research provides a list of the 8 most commonly requested violin orchestral excerpts, drawn mainly from audition lists of major orchestras, and approaches for learning these pieces, including their technical difficulties and context. This study not only helps students practice these excerpts effectively, but also improve the students’ technique in the same pedagogical manner as etudes.
