Abstract

‘Simida’ is one of the fresh and exciting expression created by Chinese netizens with the Korean final ending ‘–seubnida(–습니다)’ on internet. Now ‘simida’ is being used actively spread through newspapers, broadcastings, films. Woman uses ‘simida’ more than man and we found a point that man also uses it naturally. This study analyzes the usages and functions of ‘simida’ used by Chinese netizens on internet. Specifically, we examine the functions of ‘simida’ as dividing into ‘function related to honorifics,’ ‘expressive function as a netlanguage,’ ‘referential function to Korea,’ and ‘function of exposing attitude’ through case analysis. Thanks to Korean’s ‘seubnida’ when Chinese netizens increasingly have more interest in honorifics and increase awareness of the honorifics more and more, it feels that the effect appeared to fill a vacuum in honorifics of Chinese also. ‘Expressive function as a netlanguage’ of ‘simida’ indicates that Chinese netizens friendly, funny and cute talk as Korean speaking. Furthermore, we found that netizens expose positive attitude or negative attitude that is related to Korea with ‘simida.’ The impressive ‘simida’ borrowed from Korean is the hottest expression of Chinese netlanguage which enriches the variety of meanings and functions of it related to Korea.
