하기와라 사쿠타로의 시집 『달에게 짖다』와 『파란 고양이』에는 죽음에 관한 시편이 다수 등장한다. 구체적으로 『달에게 짖다』에서는 시인 특유의 이상감각적 묘사태도와 정서가 죽음 자체에 대한 미적 탐구와 형상화로 나타나고 있다. 이에 비해 『파란 고양이』에서는 삶의 공간으로서의 ‘도시’와 죽음의 공간으로서의 ‘시골(자연)’의 대립 구도 속에서 애상과 슬픔, 고독, 무위 등으로 점철된 현실적 삶의 고통을 죽음이라는 시적 ‘토포스’를 통해 해소하려는 예술적 자세가 느껴진다. 이 과정에서 ‘우울’과 ‘허무’라는 동 시집의 핵심적 정조가 성에 대한 번민으로서 정념의 그림자를 투영하면서, 죽음의 본능으로서의 ‘타나토스’와 삶의 본능으로서의 ‘에로스’가 첨예하게 대치하고 있다. 특히 ‘허무’는 현실로부터의 도피장소, 「무(無)」로의 회귀 등 동 시집에서의 죽음을 에워싼 사변적 응시가 도출한 독자적 경지로, 정념으로부터의 해탈 즉 ‘열반’을 지향하고 있다.
Abstract
Many poems about death appear in poetical works of Hagiwara-sakutaro’s 『Tukinihoeru』 and 『Aoneko』. Concretely in 『Tukinihoeru』, the aesthetic exploration about death itself stands out. Comparatively in 『Aoneko』, death is recognized as the life of the reality of the product of pain. In this process, the main theme such as sorrow, loneliness, and ennui appeared and by extension, a key sentiment of this collection of poems such as ‘Yuutu: melancholy’ and ‘Kyomu: nihil’ is located. I guess that ‘Phatos’, unbearable agony about sexuality is the main reason. In this collection of poems, this agony causes sharp conflicts of ‘Thanatos’ as death instinct and ‘Eros’ as life instinct. Especially ‘Kyomu’ is a philosophical result about the image of death in this collection of poems such as a place of refuge from reality, retrogression to ‘Mu: nothing’. Furthermore, the conflict composition of ‘city’ as space of life and ‘Inaka: country/nature’ as the space of death is also feature that we should notice.
