「열하일기」 ‘보유(補遺)’의 탐색

「열하일기」의 이본은 현재 수십 종이 전하고 있다. 그 중에서 정본에 가장 가까운 「연암집」 별집계(別集系)이본들은 그 목록에서 ‘보유(補遺)’라는 제목으로 6편의 글들을 소개하고 있다. 이는 「열하일기」의 현재의 텍스트에는 6편의 글이 누락되어 있으며 이 글들을 장차 찾아내어 보완해야 한다는 점을 밝힌 것이다. 이 6편의 ‘보유’ 중 「금료소초」는 실은 「열하일기」의 다른 많은 이본들에 보존되어 있다. 그러나 「천애결린집」, 「양매시화」, 「열하궁전기」, 「열하태학기」, 「단루필담」 등 나머지 5편의 글들은 지금까지 존재 여부를 알수 없었다. 본 논문은 새로운 자료들에 의거하여, 「열하일기」 중 세상에 알려지지 않은 이 5편의 글들의 행방을 탐색해 본 것이다. 단국대 연민문고 소장 「양매시화」는 바로 「양매시화」의 초고로 판단된다. 그리고 단국대 연민문고 소장「연암산고」(2)에는 「열하태학기」와 「천애결린집」의 초고가 수록되어 있다. 이러한 자료들을 면밀히 검토한결과, 박지원은 원래 「양매시화」를 비롯한 5편의 글들을 「열하일기」에 수록하려고 기획했으나, 결국에는 이를포기하고 그 글들의 일부 내용만 「열하일기」에 포함하는 데 그쳤던 것으로 판단된다.
Abstract
Currently there are a number of different editions of Yŏrha ilgi written by Pak Chi-wŏn(朴趾源). Among these, those that are closest to the standard text introduce six texts under the title “Bŏyu (補遺)”. These six texts are omitted from the current text of Yŏrha ilgi and need to be identified and supplemented in the future. “Geumryosocho(金蓼小抄)”, one of the six texts, is actually preserved in various different copies of Yŏrha ilgi. However, the whereabouts and existence of the five other texts, “Cheonaegyeolrinjip (天涯結隣集)”, “Yangmaesihwa (楊梅詩話)”, “Yŏrha gungjeongi (熱河宮殿記)”, “Yŏrha taehakgi (熱河太學記)”, and “Danrupildam(段樓筆談)”, are unknown to this day. This paper investigates the whereabouts of the lost five texts of Yŏrha ilgi through the discovery of new materials. The volume entitled, “Yangmaesihwa”, which is housed in Yeonmin Mungo(淵民文庫) of the Dankook University Library, is thought to be a draft of “Yangmaesihwa”. Similarly, the volume entitled, “Yonamsango(燕巖散稿)”(2), housed in Yeonmin Mungo, includes drafts of “Yŏrha taehakgi” and “Cheonaegyeolrinjip”. Examination of such materials led to the conclusion that Pak Chi-wŏn originally intended to have the five texts including “Yangmaesihwa” in Yŏrha ilgi however, this intention was abandoned and only parts of the content were included in Yŏrha ilgi.
