Abstract
This paper estimates individuals’ smoking behavior belong to socioeconomic stats, which are education, income, occupation and so on, in Korea financial panel data. For the analysis, sample selection model covering smoking probability and quantity together is used. The empirical study like here is hardly able to look for in the area of domestic smoking research. This way can produce rich implications from compared results easily and control the endogeneity which might occur from data. The main results are summarized as follow: smoking probability is higher in employed people and increasing belong to age while it is decreasing belong to education, income, and the number of adults in the family. Smoking quantity is in quadratic relationship, which growth rate is decreasing, with age and income and it is in inverse relationship with tobacco price when population is limited under age 60.
