이 연구는 2017년 탄핵정국 경험이 유권자의 정치적 태도에 미친 영향에 관심을 두고 세대별 특징 변화에 주목하였다. 탄핵정국 경험은 유권자의 정치적 관심과 정치효능감을 높이며 집단의 이익과 사회적 질서보다는 개인의 이익과 자유를 더 우선시하면서 진보적 성향을 강화시켰다. 그러나 탄핵정국 경험이 세대별 정치적 태도 변화에 미친 영향은 달랐다. 2030세대에서 개인적 자유에 대한 선호는 높아졌지만 4050세대와 장년세대에서는 사회적 질서가 중요한 가치였다. 집권당 민주당 호감도 변화는 2030세대의 지지를 얻는 정당이 향후 선거승리에 유리하다는 것을 보여주는 한편 영남과 호남을 중심으로 한 지역균열의 약화를 보여준다. 이러한 세대정치의 대두는 오랫동안 안정성을 가졌던 지역정당체제가 탈편성되거나 재편될 수 있음을 의미한다. 세대 교체가 이루어지면 지역정당체제가 상당히 약화되거나 정당의 의석수를 늘리기 위해서는 뚜렷한 이념지향을 갖는 정책을 제시하고 경쟁하는 정당체제로 전환될 가능성이 있다.
Abstract
This study focuses on the generational changes by analyzing the effect of experiences of the 2017 presidential impeachment on Korean political attitudes. The political experience raised political interests and efficacies while individual interest and liberty get priorities over group interest and social order. However, political orientation by generation are different. the preference for individual liberty of 2030 generation are enhanced, but social order are more important value for 4050 generation and senior generation. The preference for the Democratic party show that electoral victories can be given to the party who receive the political supports from 2030 generation. The emergence of generational politics should not be overestimated as the realignment of Korean regional party system. We can say that the stability of Korean party system can be weaken if generational politics is begun in earnest.
