본 연구는 어머니-유아의 그림책 읽기 상호작용과 유아의 인쇄물 개념과의 관계를 살펴보고 인쇄물 개념에 영향을 미치는 상호작용의 유형을 알아보기 위해 서울에 소재한 유치원과 어린이집에 다니는 만 4-6세 유아 131명을 연구대상으로 선정하였다. 어머니-유아의 책읽기 상호작용을 조사하기 위해 곽아정(1994)이 수정하여 질문 형태로 만든 질문지를 사용하여 즉각적인, 비즉각적인, 생활지도성, 확장적 상호작용의 4가지 유형으로 분류하였고, 유아들의 인쇄물 개념을 알아보기 위해 “Concept About Print Test”(CAP, 2000)를 김선희(2004)가 수정ㆍ번안한 도구를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료에 대한 분석방법은 빈도, 백분율, t검증을 실시하였고, 어머니－유아 그림책 읽기 상호작용과 인쇄물 개념간의 관계를 알아보기 위해 Pearson 상관관계분석과 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 어머니-유아의 그림책 읽기 상호작용의 유형은 비즉각적인 상호작용이 가장 많이 나타났으며, 중상류층 어머니-유아가 저소득층 어머니-유아보다 확장적 상호작용을 더 많이 하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째 인쇄물 개념의 하위영역 중 인쇄물 관례와 책에 대한 개념은 대부분 인지하고 있었다. 그러나 저소득층 가정의 유아보다 중상류층 가정의 유아가 더 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 어머니-유아의 그림책 읽기 상호작용과 인쇄물 개념간의 관계는 상호연관성이 높았으며, 상호작용의 유형 중 즉각적인 상호작용은 인쇄물 개념에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
To examine relationships between mother-child reading interactions and concepts about print, samples of 131 children aged 4-6 years were selected from 6 preschools in Seoul. Instruments for measuring mother-child reading interactions were the Immediate, Non-Immediate, Organization, Extension scales of the Mother-child Reading Interactions, according to Kwack, and children’s Concepts about print were measured by the Concepts about print, based on Kim’s research. Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, Pearson correlation, and regression analysis. Mother-child reading interactions correlated with children’s concepts about print. Immediate interactions were the worst predictor of concepts about print.
