Abstract
This study analyzed <Law (Legal documents) 1976-2005> and <White papers 1976-1999, White papers 2000s 2000-2005> from ‘Balanced Corpus of Contemporary Written Japanese’ of the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics to understand the actual use of vocabulary related to ‘HUBO’ in the official written language of contemporary Japan. <Law (Legal documents)> had vocabulary related to ‘HUBO’ and it had the low frequency of occurrence. 90% of the sample was in the form of cooperative units such as ‘HUBO’ ‘~HUBO’ (‘SOHUBO’ ‘ZITUHUBO’ ‘YOHUBO’) more than ‘TITI’ ‘HAHA’. The content was mainly related to financial compensation for children who were victims of crime. <White papers 1976-1999, White papers 2000s 2000-2005> had vocabulary related to ‘TITI’ and ‘HAHA’. Vocabulary related to ‘TITI’ overwhelmingly showed the concentrated distribution of 'TITIOYA(76%)'. Vocabulary related to ‘HAHA’ showed the high frequency of use for ‘BOSI(48%)’ and ‘HAHAOYA(30%)’. ‘TITIOYA’ was used to emphasize the importance of <the awareness of father> about actively participating in the rearing of children. ‘HAHAOYA’ showed the high frequency of use for the specific methods of rearing children. ‘BOSI’ was mainly used in forms which were related to ‘BOSIKATEI' 'BOSIHOKEN’. The frequency of occurrence for vocabulary related to ‘HAHA’ was up to 4.7 times higher than vocabulary related to ‘TITI’. The occupancy rate of vocabulary related to ‘HUBO’ was remarkably low, and it was mainly used for the content related to <a special benefit and a special allowance> and <the burden of rearing children>.
