생활세계는 우리가 가지고 있는 다양한 관심에 따른 삶의 태도들에 상응하는각각의 세계들, 즉 이론적 세계(학문적 세계)를 비롯한 여타 세계들의 바탕이되는 직접적인 경험의 세계이자 또 한편 그 모든 세계들을 포괄하는 의미에서의 세계 전체이기도 하다. 본 글은 후설의 생활세계 논의를 바탕으로 하여, 생활세계의 중층적 의미를 분석하고 그러한 이해 위에서 성적 차이의 현상학의 가능성을 조망하고자 한다. 이는 현상학이 여전히 일상생활 속에서 실제로이루어지는 성적 차이에 기반한 개별 경험들의 차이를 설명하는 데는 한계가있다는 문제의식에서 출발하였다. 남성과 여성의 체험의 본질구조는 다르지않다는 측면에서 성차 자체는 허구적임에도 불구하고, 생활세계 내에서 작동하는 성차의 효과는 실제적이다. 이것은 생활세계 내에 거주하는 신체적 실존의 관계적이고 변이적인 의미작용에 기인한다. 신체적 주체와 생활세계는 긴밀하게 얽혀 있으며, 발달의 이념(the idea of development)에 따라 상호침투하는 관계에 있다. 이 가운데 형성된 의미는 생활세계 속에 스며들어 침전되고 이어 신체적 주체에게는 지속적 타당성을 지닌 습성적 통각체계로 현재적 경험의 토대로서 자리잡게 된다. 습성적 통각체계와 관련한 세계 구성의 두 가지 의미(형성과정, 작동과정)는남성적 신체/여성적 신체로서 살아가는 주체가 경험하는 생활세계가 발생적인맥락에서 그 문화적이고 의미적인 세계적 차원이 전혀 다른 양상을 드러낸다는 것을 보여준다. 노에시스-노에마 보편적 상관관계의 선험성을 고려할 때, 자아의 보편적인 의지적 힘에 상응하는 가능성들의 총체로서 생활세계에 대한 기술이 일종의 중립적이고 자연적인, (남성으로 대변되는) 익명적이고 중성적인 기술이라고 할 수 있으며, 여성의 신체 도식과 신체 이미지는 그러한맥락에서 여성이 살고 있는 생활세계와 그 의미화의 억압적인 층위들을 드러내는 것이라고 볼 수 있다.
Abstract
Husserl’s theory of life-world has a paradoxical characteristics, as it were, it implies the direct experiential world based on the original clearness on the one hand, indicates the indirect and abstract world as a result of sciences on the other hand. In this respect, this paper analyzes the multi layered meaning of life-world and then tries to consider the possibility of a phenomenology of sexual difference. It starts from the phenomenological conviction, what Merleau-Ponty said, that “philosophy does not expect to arrive at an understanding of man and the world from any starting point other than that of their ‘facticity’ … all its efforts are concentrated upon re-achieving a direct and primitive contact with the world(PPⅰ).” However, the practical application of this phenomenal descriptions to our daily life exposes a limitation that it cannot explain the individual proper differences based on the sexual difference. What is at stake is that the sexual difference itself is not real, but the effect is real. As such, it is caused by the relational and variable signification of bodily existence in the life-world. The bodily subject and the life-world has a close intertwining relationship and subsequently by repeating this, the established meanings permeates as a certain sedimentation in the life-world. In main discussion, this paper presents two sides of worldly genetic constitution in the genetic phenomenology. According to the genetic position, the constitution is a temporal phenomenon and it can be said qua the genetic transition from low levels to high levels. The worldly genetic constitution consists of the formation of the habitual apperceptive system and the effective operation of the habitual apperceptive system. In our context, the latter can be explained through social norms and the process of embodiment which operate strongly to girls especially. In addition, the former reveals the distortion of body image on account of the limited body schema in the forming process. These two sides of worldly genetic constitution as to the habitual apperceptive system show that the life-world in which sexuate bodily subjects live is totally different to each other in the existential context. Therefore, feminine body schema and image indicate its proper life-world and the repressive layer of signification.
