사회철학에서 내재적 초월의 의미는 좌파헤겔주의의 내세계적 초월 이념에서 찾아볼 수 있다. 즉 이성적인 것, 규범적인 것을 현실 세계 내에서 실현한다는 뜻이다. 이를 위해서는 현실 세계가 병리적인 것이되 이러한 병리는 현실 세계의 사회적 실천의 규범 구조에서 발생하는 것이라야 한다. 현실에서의 규범적인 것, 이성적인 것의 왜곡과 훼손에 대한 비판 및 이의 극복이 바로 사회철학의 내재적 초월 이념의 내용인 것이다. 이 논문은 이러한 내재적 초월 이념이 하버마스에 의해 수행된 비판 패러다임의 전환 이래, 그러니까 하버마스의 의사소통 행위 이론과 호네트의 인정 이론에서 어떻게 구현되고 있는지를 살펴본다. 우선, 좌파헤겔주의의 전통에 따라 근대 사회에서의 초월을 가능하게 하는 규범적 토대는 사회적 실천 영역에서 찾아야 한다는 점, 그리고 하버마스에 의해 수행된 패러다임 전환 이후 하버마스의 의사소통 합리적 행위 및 호네트의 사회적 인정 행위가 그러한 규범적인 실천 행위로 부상하게 되었다는 점이 언급된다. 다음으로 이러한 규범적 토대를 정당화함에 있어서 하버마스의 의사소통 합리성 개념과 호네트의 인정 개념이 탈형이상학적 근대성이라는 조건에 합당한 노력을 기울이고 있으며, 마지막으로 하버마스와 호네트의 비판 이론의 내재적 초월 이념이 전통적인 좌파헤겔주의의 소외 이론의 구도를 따르면서도 주체 중심주의에서 벗어나려고 한다는 점이 지적된다. 총괄하자면, 근대의 내재적 초월은 근대 자체의 규범적 잠재력의 실현으로 가능하다는 것이 오늘날 사회철학의 핵심 이념이라 하겠다.
Abstract
The meaning of immanent transcendence in social philosophy can be found in the idea of inner-worldly transcendence of Left Hegelianism. It means the realization of the rational or the normative within the real world. For this, the real world must be pathological, but this pathology must be derived from the normative structure of social practices in the real world. That is, the criticism of the distortion and damage of the rational or the normative and the overcoming of it in the real world are the contents of the idea of immanent transcendence of social philosophy. In this paper, I examine how this idea of immanent transcendence is being embodied in Habermas’ theory of communicative action and Honneth’s theory of recognition, since the paradigm shift of criticism carried out by Harbermas. First, it is mentioned that the normative foundation that enables transcendence in modern society should be found in the realm of social practice in accordance with the tradition of Left Hegelianism, and that since the paradigm shift undertaken by Habermas, communicatively rational actions in case of himself and the actions of social recognition in case of Honneth have emerged as such normative practices. Next, it is pointed out that in justifying this normative foundation, Habermas’ concept of communicative rationality and Honneth’s concept of recognition is reasonable for the condition of postmetaphysical modernity. Finally, the idea of immanent transcendence of Harbermas’ and Honneth's critical theory is to deviate from subjectivism while following the structure of the theory of alienation in the traditional Left Hegelianism. To sum up, it is the core idea of social philosophy today that the immanent transcendence of modern times is able to be made through the realization of the normative potential of modern times itself.
