하버마스의 비판적 사회이론과 황장엽의 인간중심철학 - 일원론적 역사유물론의 극복 시도로서의 두 ‘다원론적 실천철학 체계’에 대한 비교 검토 -

초록

이 글은 황장엽의 인간중심철학을 ‘우회적인 방식’으로 소개해 보려는 의도에서 기획된 것이다. 여기서 우회적인 방식이란, 인간중심철학의 내용을 직접 소개하기보다는, 오늘날 서구 사회철학계 뿐만 아니라 한국의 실천철학계에서도 가장 영향력 있는 사회철학 체계로 ‘잠정’ 평가 받고 있는 하버마스의 비판적 사회이론과 상호 비교 고찰하는 방법을 통해 ‘비판적으로’ 소개해 보고자 하는 철학적 방식을 가리킨다. 이처럼 이 글이 황장엽의 인간중심철학을, 현재도 여전히 실천철학적 의미가 있다고 보이는 ‘마르크스(주의) 실천철학의 한계 극복 및 대안 제시’라는 사회철학적 주제에 초점을 맞추어, 비판적 사회이론과의 비교 검토 작업을 통해 성찰해 보고자 하는 주된 이유는 다음과 같다: 곧 마르크스(주의) 철학의 한계에 대한 치열한 비판적 문제의식에 입각하여 새롭게 정립된 인간중심철학이 거둔 철학적 성과와 기여, 의의와 의미 등이 비판적 사회이론에 견주어 그리 작다고만은 할 수 없다는 점을 드러내 보여주고, 그에 대한 한국 사회철학계의 관심을 불러 일으켜 봄으로써 여전히 학문적 무관심과 경시, 저평가의 대상에 머물러 있는 인간중심철학의 현 상황이 조금이라도 개선되도록 하는데 일조하기 위해서이다. 동시에 하버마스의 비판적 사회이론과의 비교 속에서, 인간중심철학의 학문적․철학적 수준을 실제로 가늠해 볼 수 있는 기회를 제공해 보려는 데에도, 이 글의 집필 의도가 또한 자리하고 있다. 이 글에서 특히 인간중심철학과의 비교대상으로 하버마스의 비판적 사회이론을 설정한 이유로는, 인간중심철학과 비판적 사회이론은 둘 다 실천철학사에서 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤던 마르크스(주의) 역사유물론의 시대적 한계와 이론적․실천적 난점을 비판적으로 인식하고 그것을 넘어서고자 기획․정립된 대표적인 실천철학 유형이라는 점을 꼽을 수 있다. 게다가 두 사회철학 체계는, 노동(생산)이라는 협소한 ‘일원론적(一元論的) 패러다임’에 전적으로 의존하여 인류의 역사 및 사회의 발전적 전개과정을 분석․해명하고 새로운 사회상을 제시하는 도정에서 마르크스(주의) 실천철학이 드러낸 결정적인 한계와 난점들을 통찰하고 그에 대한 대안적(代案的) 방안으로서, ‘다원론적 패러다임’의 구도, 즉 ‘이원론적(二元論的) 패러다임’ 혹은 ‘삼원론적(三元論的) 패러다임’을 새로운 사회철학 체계의 근본 토대로 각각 설정 제시하고 있다는 점에서, 상호 ‘이론 구성적 공분모’를 형성하고 있다는 사실 또한 적극 고려되었다.

Abstract

In this paper, I intend to introduce Hwang's Inganjoongshim(Human -centered) Philosophy critically in the indirect method. At this place, the indirect method designates the philosophical way which goes in for the critical introduction of Hwang's practical philosophy by carrying out the comparative study between Inganjoongshim Philosophy and Critical Theory of Society that is estimated temporarily today as the most influential social philosophy in the community of Korean practical philosophy as well as in the world of Western social philosophy, rather than introducing directly the contents of Inganjoongshim Philosophy. This paper thus is intended to accomplish the mutual comparison- examination work between Hwang's social philosophy and Habermas's practical philosophy, focused on the social philosophical subject of 'the overcome of limits of Marxist practical philosophy and the presentation of alternative to that philosophy', which is still regarded as significant today. The main reason to carry out such a social philosophical work is as follows:In the first place, I reveal that the philosophical outcomes, contributions and consequences of Inganjoongshim Philosophy which is critically constructed newly on the basis of the intensive critical consciousness on the limits and problems of Marxist practical philosophy, are not so slight as compared with those of Habermas's Critical Theory of Society. Secondly, I am helpful toward improving the current unfavorable circumstances in which Inganjoongshim Philosophy is placed owing to the academic indifference to itself, by arousing the philosophical interests in Hwang's practical philosophy in the community of Korean social philosophy. Thirdly, I provide the opportunity to judge really the academic and philosophical level and degree of Inganjoongshim Philosophy, in the comparison with Habermas's Critical Theory of Society.
