Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate flora and status of vegetation invasion on the forestroad slopes for 9 years(from 2005 to 2013) after the construction of forest road, which islocated in Gungryu-myeon and Jijung-myeon area, Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, SouthKorea. The average slopes of the cutting and banking slopes were in the range of 14-75˚consisting of mild slope, slope, steep slope, and precipitous land. The soil of the cutting andbanking slope was loam and sandy loam, respectively. The average covering degree of vegetationwas slightly higher in the banking slopes(71.7%) than in the cutting slopes(52.3%). The numberof average appearance species was higher in the cutting slopes(39.1 species) than in the bankingslopes(35.3 species). In the cutting slopes, species diversity index was the highest in the forestroad constructed in 2006 as a 1.491, while species diversity index in the banking slopes was thehighest in the forest road constructed in 2010 as a 1.042. Evenness index was relatively higherin old forest roads after construction having a uniform appearance species compared to those ofrecently constructed forest roads. These results indicate that it is going to stabilize by the mostsuitable plants in this study area by the competition of plants species.
