카르멘 마르틴 가이테(Carmen Martín Gaite, 1925-2000)는 유년기에 내전을 경험한‘1950년대 세대(la generación del Medio Siglo)’의 일원으로서 내전과 프랑코 독재의 역사적 상흔을 작가 고유의 미학적 방식으로 표현하였다. 마르틴 가이테는 역사적 트라우마에 대한 원인규명보다는 트라우마 주체가 사후 경험하는 치유의 문제에 천착하였다. 특히 1990년대 작품에서는 글쓰기를 통한 치유의 가능성을 모색하였다. 본고에서는 소설 『변화하는 구름 Nubosidad variable』(1992)을 중심으로 ‘생활 글쓰기’를 통한 문학치료의 가능성을 살펴보고자 한다. 문학치료학 관점에서 텍스트의 작품 서사와 삶을 구성하는 자기 서사는 조응하며 공명을 일으키게된다. 본고에서는 두 여성 주인공의 트라우마의 발현 양상과 편지와 일기를 통한 저널치료 과정, 문학 텍스트를 통한 독서치료의 과정을 분석할 것이다. 해석에 치중한 고전주의 정신분석의 한계가 공감에 바탕한 문학 치료를 통해 극복되는 과정을 살펴볼 것이다. 이와 함께 문학 작품 서사가 개인의 병약한 자기 서사를 변형, 조정하여 건강한 자기 서사로 변화시키는 과정이 논의될 것이다. 이상의 논의를 통해 ‘생활 글쓰기’를 통해 여성이 자신의 삶을 통제하며 창작가이자자신 고유 이야기의 주인공이 됨으로써 객체에서 주체로 변화하며 주체성을 획득하는 과정을살펴보게 될 것이다.
Abstract
In this article I investigate the originality of Carmen Martín Gaite’s literary therapy based on the psychoanalytic perspective in Nubosidad variable(1992). The author argues that the search for an ideal interlocutor is essential to get out of non-communication and overcome the traumatic experience. For this reason, the author incorporates the mechanisms of the “talking-cure” and the “writingcure” as the logotherapy that allows one to reflect critically on the memory of the Civil War and the Franco regime. In the 90s, the author tries to dialogue in her intimacy and through life-writing to connect historical trauma with the daily trauma. In this novel, two female characters try to use life-writing as a way to understand their own lives and to go through traumatic experience. They use diaries and letters as a narrative strategy to take control of their own narratives towards a recovery of selves. I examine the process of literary therapeutics. In literary therapeutics, all human beings are considered literature. From the literary therapeutics perspective, the life is organized by the epic of self, and literary work is composed of the epic of literary work. Through life-writing, the epic of self will be changed healthily and have the ability to overcome the problems.
