기술의 발전과 더불어 쌍방향 IPTV가 빠른 속도로 보급되고 있고 학교 현장에도 IPTV가 보급되어 수업에 도움을 주고 있다. 그러나 현재 IPTV에 대한 연구는 이론적이거나 실태의 파악과 개선과 같은 일반적인 연구가 대부분이고 일부 수업모형의 개발과 같은 구체적인 연구들도 일반 모형의 개발에 머물고 있어서 수업현장에서 필요로 하는 모형으로 발전시킬 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구는 현장의 필요성을 바탕으로 IPTV를 활용한 영어과 교수학습 모형을 개발하고 현장에 적용하여 착근 가능성을 탐색해보고자 하였다. 개발 시 요구사항을 통합하고 IPTV의 장점과 영어과 수업의 접점으로 주제중심통합에 있다고 보고 이를 적극 활용하여 개발하였다. 모형의 적용은 초등학교 6학년을 대상으로 이루어졌는데 인지적 측면에서 듣기, 읽기, 말하기에 효과가 있었으나 이보다는 수업에 대한 흥미도와 자기주도성 등 정의적 측면의 효과가 두드러져 보였다. 따라서 개발된 수업모형의 현장 적용 가능성은 높아 보이지만 질적 분석을 통해서 나타난 결과는 IPTV가 이를 활용하고자 하는 교사들에게 적지 않은 부담으로 작용하고 있는 듯하다. 따라서 교수자, 학습자 모두에게 효과적인 수업이 되기 위해서 지속적으로 IPTV의 기술적인 부분이 교수학습의 필요성에 부응할 수 있도록 수정되고 보완되어야 할 것으로 보인다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to search for an effective method of using IPTV-based instruction for the theme-based integrative English education in elementary school and to examine the effects on student’s attitude and cognitive ability of theme-based integrative English education. The subjects in this study were two classes of the 6th graders in an elementary school in Cheong-ju, Chung-buk province. Experimental teaching was the theme-based integrated English and content instruction using IPTV. Controlled group teaching was done in general English instruction without IPTV. For the effective IPTV-based instruction on the theme-based intergrated English and content education, a new IPTV-based instruction model was made by revising the original theme-based model. Most of all, one of the characteristics of the IPTV is that there are many contents available in the IPTV. This study showed that when the teacher makes a strategy of instruction using the IPTV, they have to consider the relevance, time, efficiency and so on between contents and subjects. In conclusion, it was found that the IPTV-based instruction for theme-based intergrated English and content education resulted in changing student’s attitude and cognitive ability significantly in positive direction.
