수학교육을 통한 인성교육에 대한 초등학교 교사의 인식 연구

본 연구는 학생의 인성교육 필요성을 강조하고 있는 최근의 사회적 요구를 반영한 2009 개정 교육과정을 적용하기 시작하는 초등학교에서 수학교육을 통한 인성교육 전반에 대한 교사의 인식을 알아보는 연구이다. 다시 말해 수학교육을 통한 인성교육의 가능성, 인성교육의 실태 및 활성화 방안을 중심으로 구성된설문분석을 통해 교사의 인식을 밝히고, 이를 통해 수학학습에서의 인성교육을 위한 시사점을 얻고자 하였다. 본 연구를 위해 부산시 초등학교에 근무 중인 교사 200명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하여 분석하였으며,그에 따라 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 초등학교 교사는 수학교과교육에서도 인성교육이 가능하다고 보고있었다. 문제해결과 같은 수학적 사고력 및 의사소통능력의 함양을 통해 형성될 수 있으며 바람직한 인성과 태도의 요소는 협동, 인내, 공정, 정직, 배려로 나타났다. 한편 고학년을 담당한 교사일수록 수학교육을통한 인성교육의 가능성에 부정적이었는데, 이는 수학교과의 특성과 인성덕목의 요소가 일치하지 않기 때문이었다. 결론적으로 인성교육을 위한 교사연수와 관련 자료의 개발과 제공이 요구된다.
Abstract
This study is to investigate the teacher’s perception of overall character education through mathematicsin use in elementary school that had applied 2009 revised mathematics curriculum whichwas put in effect due to social demand emphasizing the need for character education in studentsat the time. In other words, through analysing questionnaires consisting of items related to thepossibility of character education through mathematics education, current situation in character education,and its activation plan, we can get implications for character education through mathematicseducation. For this study, questionnaires were collected and analysed from 200 teacherswho work at the elementary schools in Busan. The results are as follows: Elementary schoolteachers think that it is possible to teach character education in mathematics. They also think thatit is possible through mathematical thinking and communicative skills such as creative problemsolving. Thus the desired character and attitude appeared to be cooperation, patience, fairness, honestyand caring. The higher grade teachers had more negative attitudes for teaching character educationin mathematics because characteristics of mathematics itself does not consist with the elementsof character traits. We conclude that we have to provide in-service training course and needto develop the resources for character education in mathematics.
