본 연구는 우리나라 ODA 참여와 확대에 대한 공감대 형성과 세계시민으로서의 의식수준 향상의 중요성이 증가되고 있는 시점에서 초ㆍ중등학생의 개발교육을 담당할 교사들의 국제협력 활동과 개발교육에 대한 인식을 조사함으로써 개발교육의 학교 현장 확대를 위한 시사점을 도출하고자 했다. 연구결과 첫째, ODA에 대한 인식과 관련하여 교사들은 전반적으로 국제협력 및 ODA가 필요하고 우리 ODA 활동이 국제 사회의 공동 문제해결과 우리나라 국익에 기여하고 있다고 인식하고는 있지만 관련 지식이 부족할 뿐만 아니라, 필요성의 인식에 비해 상대적으로 ODA 규모 확대에 대한 찬성 정도는 낮은 편이다. 둘째, 개발교육에 대한 인식과 관련하여 교사들은 개발교육의 각 주제 영역에 대한 교육 필요성은 인식하고 있지만 그에 대한 지식이 부족하고, 사회 등과 같은 특정 과목과 연계된 교육이라고 생각하고 있는 경우도 많으며 실제 개발교육을 진행하고 있는 교사가 극히 드물다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 개발교육에 대한 교수효능감이 낮은 편이며, 관련 자료의 보급과 교사교육에 대한 요구가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 우리나라 국제협력 활동의 확대를 위해서는 먼저 교사들의 국제협력에 대한 인식 향상을 위한 노력이 필요하며 교사 양성이나 연수 과정에 개발교육 요소를 반영할 필요가 있다는 것을 실증적으로 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
This research aimed to survey the recognition about international cooperative activity and development education of the teachers who are in charge of development education of elementary and middle school students in the time of increasing for consensus formation about ODA participation and expansion of Korea and importance of level of consciousness as world citizenry. As a result of research, first of all, while the teachers recognize that overall international cooperation and ODA is necessary and our ODA activities are contributing to the solution of the integrated problems of international society and the national benefit through the recognition survey about ODA, the related knowledge is relatively lack, and the degree of agreement about the expansion of ODA size is rather low compared to the necessity recognition as well. Second, while the teachers recognize the need of education about each theme area of development education through the recognition survey about development education, the related knowledge is lack and there are many cases that it was thought as the connected education to the especial subject such as society, and it is confirmed there is rare teacher who proceeds the education practically. Also, the teaching effectiveness about the development education is relatively low, and the distribution about the related material and the demand about teacher education was highly indicated. Through this research, for expansion of international cooperative activity of Korea, it is necessary to try to improve the teachers’ recognition about international cooperation at first, and it was confirmed empirically that the development education element must be reflected to the pre-service teachers’ and in-service teachers’ education.
