이 연구는 생애사 연구를 위한 효과적인 자료 분석관점 및 전략에 대한 논의를 목적으로 한다. 우리는 문헌연구를 통해 생애사 연구의 평가준거와 분석방법을중심으로 선행 연구물들을 분석하여 새로운 분석 관점을 도출하고 이를 활용할 수 있는 분석 방법을 제안하였다. 우리는 생애사 연구자들이 적용할 수 있는 분석의 관점으로 ‘연대기적으로 분석하라’, ‘인간관계 양상및 상호작용 방식을 중심으로 분석하라’, ‘공간 및 소속집단을 중심으로 분석하라’, ‘가치관과 비전을 중심으로분석하라’, ‘대응방식의 변화를 중심으로 분석하라’, ‘사회적/제도적 맥락을 중심으로 분석하라’ 등의 여섯 가지로 개념화하였다. 나아가 각각의 분석 관점을 실질화시킬 수 있는 다양한 코딩 기법, 분석 방법들을 제시하였다. 우리는 이 논문이 생애사 연구가 보다 엄밀한 연구방법론으로 발전하는데 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다.
Abstract
Life history research is widely used in the humanities and social sciences. There are, however, methodological challenges such as the data analysis process, data collection, and drawing conclusions. This study scrutinized the data analysis perspectives for life history research, and the practical strategies used to analyze data based on these perspectives. Using literature review as the methodology, this study investigated the existing evaluation criteria and analysis methods used in life history research. In doing so, we have developed new analysis perspectives and practical analysis strategies. The six perspectives for life history analysis that we suggest are: to analyze chronologically, to analyze based on modes of human relations, and configurations of interaction, to analyze based on place and affiliated groups, to analyze based on personal sense of values and vision, to analyze based on changing life attitudes, and to analyze abased on social/historical context. Furthermore, this study suggested analysis strategies in terms of these six perspectives which may contribute to developing life history research into a more rigorous research methodology.
