Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers’ STEAM education implementation using the Concerns Based Adoption Model (CBAM). A total of 580 teachers participated in an online survey. Teachers' perceptions of concerns in STEAM education showed a high level of awareness concern and informational concern, but management concern, refocusing concern, and personal concern showed normal levels of concern. The consequence concern and collaboration concern of the teachers remained relatively low. This tendency did not show much difference by the school level. The levels of use of teachers who applied STEAM education showed a tendency to be distributed evenly by level of non use, orientation, preparation, mechanical, routine, refinement, integration, and renewal. However, according to the school level, there was a slight difference in the ratio of teachers' levels of use STEAM education. At the level of integration, the proportion of elementary school teachers was much lower than that of middle and high school teachers. The proportion of teachers in mechanical use tended to decrease as the number of schools increased from elementary school to high school. As a result of innovation configuration, STEAM education in all school classes was mainly conducted in science class. The method of integration of the subjects was slightly different according to the school level, but the method of single subject was the most. STEAM was mainly carried out during regular school hours, and the ratio tended to decrease as the school level increased. However, when STEAM education is implemented using club activity time, it tends to increase as the school level increases. Most teachers use self-developed textbooks for STEAM classes. In the assessment area, teachers in STEAM education mainly used observation evaluation. According to the results of the research, it is suggested that the educational policy should be changed so that the consequence concern and collaboration concern of the teachers can be strengthened. In addition, in elementary schools, it is necessary for teachers to provide professional training to develop self-developed textbooks, and In high school, there is a need to create an educational environment that allows more STEAM education in regular classes.
