주체 변동에 따른 공동체 의례의 변화 －거문도 사례를 중심으로－

Abstract

A community that shares the base of livelihood is a cooperative body where group consciousness and collective value precede individual opinion and value. Thus, community faith is a kind of religious phenomenon for a community to maintain religious tradition and strengthen collective unity. A representative community rites performed in Geomun island might be ‘Goduri Younggam-Je’ of Geomunri. Deochonri, Seodori and Yuchonri also held village-unit rites. Apart from this, there was a Yongwangje that ship owners of the village worshiped individually. In Seodori, there once was Geobukje apart fromt Dang-je. Geomundo federations of fisheries cooperatives holds Poongeo-je(A wishing a large catch rite;豊漁祭) on April 15 according to lunar calendar from 1986 on. As every tradition was no more held at that time, the federations of fisheries cooperatives after receiving historical and evidential advices from surrounding villages have executed the rite. Thus, the subject of Geomun island community rite has been changed as the federations became to organize the rite. The current Geomun island Poongeo-je shows a character that has been extended in appearance from the original one. This extension might be divided in to the extension to the local rites and the extension of participants. However, it also indicates the reduction of faith at the same time. The change of subject demonstrates not only the external extension that it has sustained as a culture by enlarging the size but also internal reduction that weakens the degree of faith which may discontinue or extinction the rites in the future.
