Abstract
The purpose of this study was develop and validity the father and child rough and tumble play interaction scale. This study reviewed the previous Korean and foreign studies in order to extract the items to measure, And then A response survey was administered to 30 fathers of young children. In addition, a preliminary investigation was conducted using 20 questions on three factors for fathers and 17 questions on three factors for young child. After subjecting the preliminary scale to a validation process involving exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, a scale was developed for the present study, composed of 11 questions on four factors for fathers and 11 questions on four factors for young child. The reliability of the scale was verified through the test, and overall, the father’s Cronbach’s alpha was .89, Cronbach’s alpha was .76-86, the young child Cronbach’s alpha was .85, and Cronbach’s alpha was .85-96. for each of the four sub-factors. The aim of the study was to develop a father and child rough and tumble play interaction scale for reflecting modern fathers’ values and changing perceptions of child-rearing. It has significance for its value as basic data for research related to the involvement of fathers in parenting, play, interaction which has recently been on the rise.
