<장끼타령>은 창(唱)을 잃어버린 일명, 실창(失唱) 판소리의 한 작품 이다. 이것을 1970년대 판소리로서 복원(復元)한 것이 박동진(朴東鎭) 창 본(唱本) <장끼타령>이다. 박동진 창본 <장끼타령>은 중심 서사(敍事)와 주요 사설(辭說)을 활자본(活字本) 『장끼전』에서 착안하고 판소리 장단 (長短)을 엮어서 재구성한다. 박동진 창본 <장끼타령>은 기존 전승 서사와 사설을 소릿결에 맞춰서 변이·개작하고 사설에 걸맞은 세부 장단을 배치하여 구성한다. 박동진 창본은 기존 전승 서사와 사설을 변이·개작하는 데에 있어서 4음절과 4음보의 운율을 지향한다. 또한 사설과 장단을 엮는 데에 있어서 이면 (裏面)의 조화를 중요시한다. 박동진 창본 <장끼타령>은 미시적 어휘의 변이, 쉽게 풀어 쓴 어구 의 지향, 사설과 장단의 이면 추구, 흥겨운 마무리의 구음(口音) 활용 등의 특징적인 면모를 지닌다. 이것은 창자 박동진이 판소리 청중(聽 衆)을 위해서 사설의 가청영역(可聽領域)을 넓히고, 사설과 창의 소릿 결을 살려서 판소리 공연에 생기를 더하기 위한 일련의 의도라고 할 만하다. 이처럼 박동진 창본 <장끼타령>을 비롯한 일련의 복원 판소리는 창자 박동진의 작사와 작곡의 예술가적 풍모를 드러내고 판소리 작법(作法)의 한 사례를 제공한다. 박동진의 <장끼타령>은 판소리 콘텐츠의 외연(外 延)을 재구(再構)하고 확대하는 현실적 노력의 일환으로써 중요한 의미를 지닌다.
Abstract
This article is a study on <Janggitaryeong> of Park Dongjin. <Janggitaryeong> is one of Pansori's, Korean traditional performing arts. It is a performance that has the story of a pheasant cock which represents an obstinate male ego. This pheasant cock does not listen to an advice of his wife, a pheasant hen. And then he eats a poison bean to be dead. Park Dongjin remakes <Janggitaryeong> in 1970's because original sound of <Janggitaryeong> is disappeared the end of 19th century. Therefore Park Dongjin mixes music of traditional Pansori and a novel of Jangggijeon for a restoration of Changbon <Janggitaryeong>. Park Dongjin focuses on a songwriting of <Janggitaryeong> for an audience in 1970's. It is able to understand and enjoy for the audience. Therefore Park Dongjin makes music to be reasonable with lyrics and story to be easy to understand for the audience. As a result, This kind of songwriting of Park Dongjin is an important model of the restoration of Pansori. This is to expand the territory of Pansori and to get the popularity of the public.
