청각장애부모를 둔 건청자녀(CODA)의 성장경험에 관한 질적 탐색

이 연구의 목적은 청각장애부모를 둔 건청자녀의 성장경험을 심리적, 사회적, 언어적 측면에서 탐색하여 농문화와 청각장애가족을 이해하고자 하는 것이다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해, 이 연구에서는 수화로 대화가 가능한 청각장애 부모를 둔 건청성인자녀와 접촉하여 개별적으로 심층면접을 진행하였으며, 이를 통해 수집한 자료들을 가지고 사례 내 분석과 사례 간 분석을 실시하였다. 최종 네 사례를 통해 수집한 자료들에서 중요한 이슈들을 파악하였으며, 사례 간 분석을 통해 나타난 주제들은 ʻ의사소통의 장벽ʼ, ʻ수화통역의 딜레마와 역할전도ʼ, ʻ성인화ʼ, ʻ방임됨ʼ, ʻ가족의 도움ʼ, ʻ청각장애인과 CODA집단의 형성ʼ, ʻ이중언어습득ʼ, ʻ가족 간 의사소통의 중계역할ʼ, ʻ선택과 결정에서 권한부여ʼ, ʻ집중되는 시선을 창피하게 여김ʼ 등이었다. 이러한 연구결과를 근거로, 청각장애부모와 건청자녀로 이루어진 청각장애가족을 지원하기 위한 정책과 실천 방향들을 제언하였으며, 연구의 한계를 극복하고 풍부한 자료를 확보하기 위해 필요한 후속연구들에 대해서도 제언하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understand deaf culture and family with deaf members by examining growth experiences of hearing children with deaf parents, referred to as CODA. In particular, this research investigates psychological, sociological and linguistic experiences of CODAs. In order to reach its objective, this study has conducted individual intensified interview with hearing children who have deaf parents that can communicate with others by sign language, and then collected data from the interview. Based on interview data, his study has carried out several case studies and analyzed results obtained from those cases. from cases include ‘Communication barrier,’ ‘Dilemma for sign language interpretation and reversed role,’ ‘Becoming an adult,’ ‘Being non-intervention,’ ‘Help of family,’ ‘Grouping of deaf people and CODA,’ ‘Acquiring two language,’ ‘Relaying role for family communication,’ ‘Assigning right for selection and decision making’ and ‘Shamed on concentrated attention.' Based on these results, this study propose policies and practical directions to support deaf families as well as hearing children with deaf family. In addition, suggests several ways for follow-up studies for acquiring sufficient data and to overcome limitation of the study.
