미래 교육의 교수·학습 모델로 유력하게 제안되는 Personalized Learning에 대한 개괄적 연구가 최근 이어지고 있다. 하지만 우리나라 교육에 적용점을 찾을 만한 PL 교수·학습의 구체적 사례에 대한 연구는 찾기 어렵다. 따라서 본 연구는 우리나라 사정에 맞는 미래 교육으로서의 PL 실행 방안을 모색하는데 기여하기 위해 미국 도심의 한 평범한 교육구 내 초등학교의 PL 적용 사례를 미시적으로 살펴보았다. 교육구의 보고서를 비롯하여 온라인 상에 공개되어 있는 관련 문서, 글, 사진, 동영상 등을 수집, 분석하여 교수·학습 과정을 재구성하였다. 그 일련의 과정은 순환적으로 다음과 같이 이뤄지고 있었다: 학습자 중심으로 교육과정을 계획 - 구체적 학습 활동(playlist)을 구성 - 학습자가 활동을 선택하고 실행 - 학습 활동을 평가하고 분석 - 결과 소통 및 반영. 각 단계별로 교수·학습의 실제 장면을 자세히 소개하였고 끝으로 우리 교육에 적용하기 전 고려할 점들을 논하였다.
Abstract
Recently, there have been several studies introducing Personalized Learning in general in S. Korea; however, it is hard to find practical case studies of Personalized Learning which can correspond to the general public schools’ situation in S. Korea. Therefore, this study aims to contribute to the practical guidelines applicable in S. Korea by describing a case from a public school district in the U.S. The case was reorganized after collecting and analyzing available data open to public on internet such as the district’s report paper, postings, pictures, and video clips. As a result, the process of teaching and learning in Personalized Learning were established in five stages: Planning curriculum based on student profile, constructing playlist, selecting activities from playlist and learning, evaluating and analyzing students’ learning, and communicating the results and reflecting on the following learning. Each stage was illustrated in detail and at the end suggestions to consider before implementing Personalized Learning were discussed.
