Abstract

This study chronologically examines how the U. S. government during the wartime has taken different measures to cope with the media that handled the war-related news after the founding of the nation through the World War II. One of the observations this study has made is a connection between the war the United States has executed and the media that are newly introduced to the war scenes to provide its citizens with a certain perspective to comprehend the world around and the war the new media covers. This study also briefly reviews the Hegelian notion of the state in an answer to the question of why the protection of war-related secrets and the war, as an epiphany of the nationalistic ideology, have taken conceptually higher ground than the value of the freedom of the press.
