결혼이민자의 사회적 차별경험이 한국생활만족도에 미치는 영향

초록

본 논문은 결혼이민자에 대한 사회적 차별의 의의를 이론적으로 고찰하고, 이러한 사회적 차별경험이 세 가지 만족도에 미치는 영향을 ‘2015년 전국다문화실태조사 원자료’를 사용하여 실증분석한 것이다. 다중회귀분석모형을 이용하여 (1)차별경험이 있는 이민자가 한국생활만족도가 낮을 것인지, (2)배우자와의 관계만족도 및 자녀와의 관계 만족도가 낮을 것인지 (3)성별, 국가별로 그 결과의 공통점과 차이점이 있는지 등을 분석하였다. 분석결과 사회적 차별경험이 있는 여성결혼이민자는 한국생활의 전반적인만족도, 배우자와의 관계만족도, 자녀와의 관계만족도가 통계적으로 유의미하게 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이외에 연령이 낮을수록 거주지역이 읍면부일수록 교육수준이 높을수록 가구소득이 높을수록 세 개의 만족도가 높은것으로 나타났다. 자녀가 많을수록 자녀와의 관계만족도는 낮아졌다. 중국결혼이민자는 기타 국가에 비해 세 가지 만족도 모두 낮았으며, 필리핀 결혼이민자는 배우자와의 관계만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 한국에서의 체류기간이 짧을수록 배우자와의 관계만족도가 높아지는 것으로 나타났고, 배우자와의 만남경로가 결혼중개업자를 통한 경우가 아닌 경우, 한국어 능력은 듣기가 잘 될수록 모든 만족도가 높았다. 남성결혼이민자는 여성결혼이민자의 경우와 다르게 차별경험이 한국생활의 전반적인 만족도에만 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 거주 지역, 교육수준, 체류기간, 배우자와의 만남경로는 모두 만족도와 무관하였다.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of social discrimination and individual-level factors on the life satisfaction among marriage-immigrants in Korea. using the ‘2015 National Survey on Multicultural Families.’ This study mainly explores whether experiences on discriminations against marriage- immigrants have a negative impact on the satisfaction with their spouse and children as well as overall life satisfaction. Further, this study aims to clarifying the differences in satisfaction between women and men as well as among their mother countries. The results show that experiences on discrimination significantly lower life satisfaction as well as the satisfaction with their spouse and children among female marriage-immigrants. This study also present that the satisfaction is likely to increase as female marriage-immigrants are younger, they live in suburban areas, and they get higher educational achievements. As marriage-immigrants got married through personal contacts other than marriage business companies, and their proficiency of Korean language is advanced, their satisfaction with their spouse and children are more likely to increase than others. Further, marriage-immigrants from China show lower level of satisfaction than immigrants from other countries. Finally, the results highlight that experiences on discrimination for male marriage-immigrants show significantly lower satisfaction with their spouse and children as well as overall life satisfaction while other factors have no impact on any satisfactions.
