The paper touches upon what has been one of the main issues in the field of second language(L2) acquisition since Chomsky proposed the theory of Universal Grammar(UG) in the early 1980s - whether adults have the same access to UG in the course of acquiring L2 as children do in their native language(L1) acquisition.
