초록
The aim of the study is to investigate I think used as an epistemic stance marker in Korean EFL learners of spoken language of the Korean EFL learners. It is the commonly used expression of speakers’ stance-taking toward propositional meaning. The study focuses on its’ position, function, grammatical structure from a perspective of pragmaticalization. For this, Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) Learner Corpus of Spoken English (BUFS-LCSE) as a target corpus is analyzed by learners’ language proficiency levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and compared with BNC sampler as a reference corpus. The results show that the patterns of each level are statistically different from those of native speakers from the three foci. The learners prefer sentence-medial position, complement-clause structure, opinion-oriented function. However, the patterns of the advanced group are becoming similar to native speakers in grammatical structure and function. This pattern can be applied to raise EFL learners’ consciousness of natural patterns of stance-taking in spoken discourses.
