다석 유영모 신학 사상의 토착화 가능성 연구: 예수의 ABBA 체험의 맥락에서

초록

본고는 한국 신학계에서 ‘영의 신학’(theology of the Spirit)을 본격적으로 논의하기 위한 하나의 시론이자 사전연구이다. 곧, 영의 신학의 본격적 논의보다는 토착화의 맥락에서 성령론을 중심으로 한국 또는 아시아적 영의 신학의 가능성을 가늠해보고 그 중요성을 환기하는 데에 초점을 두었다. 이 글은 크게 두 부분으로 나뉘는데 하나는 예수의 아바 체험을 성령론적 측면에서 이해하고자 했으며 아바와 관련된 논쟁을 소개하고 있다. 여기서 아바가 친근한 ‘아빠’의 이미지뿐만 아니라 고통을 감내하는 ‘성숙한 신앙인이 체험하는 하느님의 이미지’임을 강조했으며, 하느님 나라가 바로 영의 세계라는 주장을 중심으로 하느님 나라 논쟁을 다뤘다. 다른 한 부분도 역시 성령론의 맥락에서 다석 유영모의 얼사상을 소개한다. 곧 얼사상의 성령론적 특징을 그의 그리스도관과 신관 그리고 성령 이해를 통해 드러내면서 예수의 아바 체험을 둘러싼 신학적 논의, 특히 성령론적 논의의 맥락에 놓는다. 그리하여 서구 신학과의 대화와 만남의 필요성을 보여주고 있으며, 나아가 하느님의 영의 신학의 가능성을 탐색하고자 했다. 본고는 토착화와 한국 신학의 발전을 위한 몇 가지 제안을 하며 논의를 마치고 있다. 종교 및 문화의 다원성과 복합성을 특징으로 하는 현대의 도전에 적절히 대응하기 위해서 유영모의 얼사상이 예수에 대한 이해에 있어 아버지-아들 또는 스승-제자 관계라는 수직적 유교 질서를 넘어서야 한다. 이를 위해 그의 성령론적 얼 그리스도론과 서구의 영 그리스도론과의 발전적 교류와 대화가 매우 필요하다고 보인다. 또한 유영모의 창조적인 한글 이해와 사용에 대한 언어학적 연구 등 학제 간 접근(interdisciplinary approach)이 그의 사상을 더욱 공고히 하고 확대하는 데에 공헌할 것으로 기대하며 이 방면의 연구도 아울러 힘써야 한다고 제안한다.

Abstract

The paper aims to be an exploration in order to promote a ‘theology of the Spirit’ in Korea before its discourse is fully developed. It focuses on a possibility and importance of the theology of the Spirit in Asia particularly in Korea in the light of “inculturation” rather than a direct and full discussion on the theology of the Spirit. This paper is divided into the two parts. One is that it tries to understand Jesus’ Abba experience in the light of pneumatology, introducing various debates related to the theme of Abba. In that, it puts a stress not only on its intimate aspect found in the word ‘daddy’ but an ‘adult faith’ with which one believer could show a mature faith to endure sufferings. The reign of God is discussed here with more focus on the image of kingdom of God same as the world of the Spirit. The other part is to introduce Eol thought of Yu Youngmo, one of the distinguished Korean thinkers, centering on pneumatology. In that the pneumatological characteristics of Eol thought is described in his understanding of God and the Spirit, which then is placed in theological discussion of Jesus’ Abba experience particularly in the context of pneumatological debates. By so doing, the paper shows the necessity of dialogue with Western theologies and explores the possibility of the theology of the Spirit of God. This paper ends its discussion by proposing some suggestions for developing Korean theology and inculturation. It proposes that the Eol thought of Yu Youngmo must go beyond a family or social order depending mainly on “vertical relationships” from Confucianism such as ‘father-son’ or ‘teacher-student’ in his understanding of Jesus. That is in order to respond rightly to the modern days’ challenges characterized by cultural and religious diversities and complexities. For this, as mentioned above, an active dialogue and exchange between Yu’s pneumatological Eol Christology and that of the Western theologians is very much needed. Also this paper suggests that an interdisciplinary approach toward and study of Yu’s creative understanding and usage of Korean language need to be done. That is expected to contribute in making his thought more solid and expanded.
