Abstract

Since the utility of the humanities has been in debate with the exchange value as the central matter, the humanities are gradually becoming obsolete. But lately the tendency to study the therapeutic effect that emphasizes on the function of humanities has risen. The discussion on the subject that the approach to the movies or visual media based on a scenario can be taken for a research item of therapeutic function as well as the industrial aspects with emphasis on the recreational function is in progress. This dissertation describes the combination of the cinematic attainment of Miryang Film School which is an alternative school specialized in film study founded by the author of this paper and of the psychologically therapeutic effect on the student. It’s been said that the students in adolescence have unlimited potential. But in reality, every individual has a great deal of agony and despair, but on the other hand there are also endless challenges to be made. This paper explains that the film <A rainbow in the classroom> and <Closer> work as a material each to overcome the outcast problem among the children in elementary school and the depression and despair for adolescents in high school. The adolescents can become depressive without a specific reason, in many cases however, it was owing to the lack of understanding from their family, especially parents, and from their teachers. In such reality, it’s not easy to cure their mental illness through making movies. But if several cases would accumulate and such a process would gain the general public recognitions, it would be a good direction to seek the rehabilitation method through producing visual media. In the future, the method to increase the therapeutic value of movies by respecting the aesthetic value should be devised.
