본 논문은 영화 리터러시에 대한 개념과 범위를 살펴봄으로써 학교영화교육의 새로운 경향을 밝히고 있다. 이를 통해 학교 영화교육의의미와 필요성이 보다 명확하게 제시될 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 학교 영화교육의 법․제도적 장치를 구체적으로 살펴보고, 영화리터러시의 개념에 대해 다른 리터러시와 관련지어 설명하고 있다. 문화예술교육지원법, 미디어교육지원법(안), 고교학점제, 자유학기학년제, 서울시교육청 협력종합예술활동, 영화진흥위원회 영화교육 중점학교 등의 사례를 통해 학교 영화교육의 위치를 자리 매김하고 교육적 가치를 높이는 계기를 마련할 수 있다. 이처럼 2000년대까지만 해도 시네리터러시는 영화를 비롯한 영상텍스트에 대한 이해와 감상에 대한 교육으로 인식되었으며, 실제 제작 교육에 대한 내용은 명확하게 다루지는 않았다. 하지만 영화 리터러시는 영화를 보고 감상하는 이해 영역서 머무르는 것이 아니라 만드는 단계까지 포함하게 된다. 다시 말해서, 영화 리터러시는 보고 감상하는 것뿐만 아니라 실제적으로 영화나 기타 영상을 제작하는 영역까지 포함하게 된다. 여기서 영화 리터러시는 영화 제작을 통한 적극적인 소통을 강조하는 것으로 능동적인 수용 과정으로 영화를 중심으로한 영상 창작을 포함하게 되었다.
Abstract
This paper explores new trends in school film education by examining the concept and scope of film literacy. This means that the meaning and necessity of school film education can be more clearly presented. Therefore, this study examines the legal and institutional devices of school film education and explains the concept of film literacy in relation to digital literacy and media literacy. For example, the cases such as the Culture Arts Education Support Act, the Media Education Support Act (Draft), the high school credit system, the free-learning semester system, and the Seoul cooperation arts activities. Until the 2000s, cinematic literacy was perceived as education about understanding and appreciation of video texts including movies, and the contents of actual production education were not explicitly addressed. However, film literacy involves not only staying in the area of appreciation but also making a movie. In other words, film literacy includes not only viewing and listening but also realistically producing movies and other images. Here, film literacy emphasizes active communication through filmmaking, and it includes active film-based film production as an active acceptance process.
