본 연구는 포스트드라마 연극에서 관객의 관람 양상을 감성학적으로 고찰하는것을 목적으로 한다. 수행성 미학에서는 공연 관람을 공동 현존의 조건에서 물질성에대한 수행적 지각을 통한 의미 생성 체험으로 설명한다. 이러한 의미 생성이 본질적으로 감성적 지각에 기반한다는 점에 주목하여, 본 연구는 감성학을 통해 포스트드라마 연극의 관람 양상과 의미 생성의 기제를 고찰하고자 하였다. 구체적으로는 관객의 수행성 미학과 감성학적 관점에서 감성적 지각이 직관적 표상과창발적인 연상을 통해 의미를 생성하는 과정을 탐구하고, 의미 생성의 기제로 작용하는 가추법적 지각 과정에 주목하였다. 이를 극단 길라잡이의 <겨울 나그네_어느 아버지의 이야기> 공연분석을 통해 실증적으로 검증하였다. 본 연구는 수행성 미학 연구에서 상대적으로 소홀히 다루어졌던 의미화 문제를감성학적 접근을 통해 새롭게 조명했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 또한 기존의 기호학적의미 인지와 수행성 미학적 의미 생성을 통합적으로 고찰함으로써, 포스트드라마 연극의 관람 양상에 대한 보다 풍부하고 심도 있는 이해의 토대를 마련했다는 점에서도 의의를 지닌다.
Abstract
This study aims to approach audience reception patterns in post-dramatic theater from an aesthetic perspective. In performance aesthetics, theatrical viewing is explained as a process of meaning generation through performative perception of materiality under conditions of co-presence. Noting that such meaning generation is fundamentaly based on aesthetic perception, this study examines the viewing patterns of post-dramatic theater through aesthetics in relation to meaning generation. Specificaly, from the perspectives of performative aesthetics and aesthetics, this study explores how aesthetic perception generates meaning through intuitive representation and association, with particular attention to the abductive perceptual process as a mechanism of meaning generation. These theoretical frameworks are empiricaly verified through an analysis of the performance “Winter Journey: A Father’s Story” by Theater Company Giljajabi. This study is significant in that it newly iluminates the issue of meaning- making, which has been relatively neglected in performative aesthetics research, through an aesthetic approach. Furthermore, it provides a foundation for a richer and deeper understanding of viewing patterns in post-dramatic theater by comprehensively examining both traditional semiotic meaning recognition and performative aesthetic meaning generation. This study contributes to both the theoretical understanding and practical application in theater studies by providing a new framework for analyzing audience reception in post-dramatic theater through the lens of aesthetics, while also bridging the gap between semiotic and performative approaches to theatrical meaning-making.
