초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze the nomadic characteristics of dancing body shown in Forsythe's dance works based on G. Deleuze's nomadism. Forsythe's choreography initially started from the imitation of G. Balanchine and P. Bausch and was developed into his unique styles composed of high-level techniques, non-representative and fragmentary bodily images. Besides, he recently created new areas entitled Flim, Videos, choreographic Objects, choreographic installation, public choreography, thus encouraging the audience to have new perception methods and change their aesthetic positions. Prior research on Forsythe was mainly conducted from Derrida's de-constructivistic perspectives. However, this study was different from prior research in that it paid attention to the constant changes of Forsythe’s dancing body in expression methods and newly generated dancing idioms based on Deleuze's nomadism. This study viewed the nomadic characteristics of Forsythe’s body as the concepts of de-territorialization, re-territorialization, indefinite machines, and connection links to non-dance. This study was meaningful in that it suggested new perspectives for dancing aesthetics and revealed that the practical and creative thinking emphasized by Deleuze was embodied also in dancing.
