올해(2007년)는 1907년 대부흥운동이 일어난 지 100주년이 되는 해이다. 한국교회는 다양한 차원에서 1907년 대부흥운동을 기념하고 있다. 대부분의 교단이 대부흥운동을 기념하는 행사를 열고 있으며, 상당수의 교계 기관단체 또한 다양한 기념행사를 주관하고 있다.교단 및 교계 기관단체에 의해 열리고 있는 대부흥운동 관련 행사는 ‘그 때, 그 곳에서’의 역사를 기념하려는 것이 분명하지만, 그러한 ‘기념’은 ‘지금, 여기에서’ 그 때의 영광을 재현하고픈 욕망을 품고 있는 것이기도 하다.이 연구의 관심사는 한국교회가 대부흥운동의 어떠한 역사적 순간을 기념하고 있으며, 그러한 기념 행위를 통해서 무엇을 재현하고자 하는지를 밝히는 데에 있다. 이를 밝히기 위해, 현재 한국교회 교단 및 교계 기관단체가 1907년 대부흥운동을 어떻게 기념하고 있으며, 2007년 대부흥운동 100주년 기념행사를 어떻게 준비하고 있는지를 검토해보았다. 현재, 한국교회의 대부흥운동 기념은 각 교단 및 기관별로 진행되고 있다. 교단에 따라 다소 편차가 있기는 하지만, 한국교회가 대부흥운동을 기념하는 문제의식은 회개, 화해, 복원, 부흥, 전도 등에 있다. 이들 키워드는 역사(과거)적 지향과 미래적 지향을 동시에 가지고 있다. 기관 및 단체에 의해 주도되고 있는 대부흥운동의 기념은 대체로 집단 경험과 기억에 기반한 반성적 성찰을 지향하고 있다.이러한 기념의 지점은 과거 영광의 역사를 현재적 맥락에서 재현하여, 새로운 영광을 구현하고자 하는 꿈(희망)의 출발점을 이루는 것이다. 이 지점에서 강조하고 싶은 것은 한국교회가 제대로 된 꿈을 꾸어야 한다는 것이다. 제대로 된 꿈을 꾸기 위해서는 무엇보다도 투철한 역사 인식을 가져야 한다.
Abstract
This year(2007) is the hundredth anniversary of Great Revival of the Korean Church in 1907. The Korean Church has been commemorating the anniversary in various ways. Most orders of the Korean church, its affiliated organizations and groups hold diverse memorial events. These events are certainly a work to applaud the history of ‘there and then’, being also an attempt to revive the glory of ‘here and now’ simultaneously. This research tries to find which historical moments of the Great Revival the Korean Church wants to commemorate and what the Korean Church wants to revive through these events. I have examined the current situation that how the orders and groups commemorate the Great Revival in 1907 and prepare the memorial events for its hundredth anniversary in 2007. Currently the memorial events are now under way as classified by each order and organization. In despite of being somewhat different according to the orders, the essential concept that the Korean Church has for commemorating the Great Revival is repentance, reconciliation, restoration, revival, and evangelization. These words embrace history(past) and future at the same time. This commemoration of the Great Revival led by orders and organizations generally intends to reflect on the basis of experience and remembrance. This spot of commemoration is a starting point of a dream to revive the glorious history of the past in the present context and consequently to realize new glory ‘here and now'. I'd like to emphasize the dream should be correct one. To dream a desirable dream it is necessary to have a clear perception of history.
