Abstract
The course of political system development in African nations during the past fifty years since independence was a process of the experimental introduction and the transition of a wide array of political systems ranged from a one-party dictatorship to a multi-party democratic system. This study aims to analyze the political dynamics of the developmental process and the background to the establishment of various political systems in Africa as it has been fifty years since independence. In spite of the perfunctory success the spread of a democratic political system in Africa which was caused by the international community's call along with globalization has often been used as a legal means to justify the extension of the power of the ruling camp. Thus it needs much more time to establish and spread a genuine democratic system. Africa which had been marked by extreme poverty, famine, violence and ethnic conflicts and military coup has recorded above five percent of economic growth and established a democratic system step by step. It delivers a hopeful message for the future which can compensate the time of turmoil and many trials and errors over the fifty years since independence.
