현대 중국 미학의 역사 맥락과 표상

본 논문의 목적은 중국 당대의 정신구조에 대한 기본적인 이해를 “미학”을 통해 접근하는 것이다. 논의를 위해 먼저 현재 중국 미학의 근원(根源)을 이루고 있는 부분을 전통미학의 특성과 근대, 그리고 현대로 나누어 기본적인 중국미학의 “역사적 맥락”을 통한 본질을 이해한다. 그리고 현대의 미학의 특징을 실천과 주체의 두 가지 “표상(表象)” (representation or symbol)으로 나누어 이를 통하여 미학의 본질에 대한 이해를 시도한다. 결론으로 중국적인 “상층구조”의 특징을 미학의 근원과 제 표상(表象)들을 통한 환원적인 설명을 가한다. 결론적으로 중국 미학의 100년 역사와 그것의 표상은 다음 세 가지의 맥락으로 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 첫째, 중국 미학의 역사는 중국 철학의 한 부분으로서 혹은 독립된 분야로서 중국의 정신 구조의 역사를 반영하고 있다. 그리고 미학이 중국 근대에서 현대에 이르는 시기의 중국 역사를 계몽적으로 이끌어 온 핵심적 지위를 점하고 있다. 둘째, 실천의 중국 미학의 한 표상으로서의 역할은 미학 역사의 맥락의 반영에 따라 그 양식을 달리 하였다. 근대의 계몽 주체 사상의 주류 시대를 지나 현대에 이르러 마르크스의 “실천” 명제가 적확하게 미학의 이론 체계를 재정립하는 핵심 요소로 자리 잡게 되었다. 셋째, 주체성의 회복과 확립은 근대 이후 중국 정신계의 기장 근원적인 숙제가 되었다. 정체성(整體性)의 모색과 이의 각 영역에서의 표준의 마련은 서양 사조와 경쟁하는 중국 고유의 민족정신을 위호(衛護)하고 계승, 발전하려는 필사적인 시도로 표출되었다.
Abstract
A Historical Context and Representation in Contemporary Chinese Aesthetics Sangok Lee(Jeonju University) The purpose of this paper is to understand the mainstream of contemporary Chinese thought, ("upper structure"), through the historical context of Chinese aesthetics from the ancient to the modern period. Aesthetics has a special position in China, because it consists of an important part of Chinese philosophy which is the prime structure or form in Communist theory: to the practice political propaganda. Traditional China has had an important effects on the aesthetics of learning system. The root in ancient aesthetics, transformation in modern aesthetics and revolutionary change in contemporary Chinese aesthetics will be discussed, focusing on the historical context of all aesthetics history. In addition, the representations or symbols of each period will be introduced. The representations or symbols become the message or mediation in order to acknowledge practical concepts, which are practice and identity. In conclusion, we understand, through the whole historical context of aesthetics the dynamics among the national identity establishment process and its characteristics, which are the ruling principles of practice, and the seeking procedures of culture and living style in these times.
