한문교육과 기본이수과목<한문국역연습>의 운영 방향 검토 -성신여대 <고전해석방법론> 과목 운영 사례를 중심으로-

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the operation of "Methodology on Interpretation of Classical Chinese Literature" (Korean Translation Practice), a fundamental course recognized by the Ministry of Education, within the Department of Classical Chinese Education at Sungshin Women's University, and to discuss the future direction of the course. According to the curriculum outlines of five of the six schools that have adopted "Korean Translation Practice" as a basic elective course, the objectives (content) of the course are: first, to cultivate accurate understanding and appreciation of works; second, to enhance the ability to interpret and translate works; and third, to cultivate the ability to accurately translate Korean works into modern Korean. The course under examination aims to develop students' proficiency in interpreting, appreciating, and critiquing classical Chinese texts, particularly classical Chinese poetry (encompassing both ancient poems and those from the High-Tang dynasty). In addition, the course explores effective strategies for incorporating these important works into secondary school education. This feature is related to the pivotal role played by this course in acquainting students with Chinese poetry within the curriculum of Sungshin Women's University. It mirrors the broader educational trend toward emphasizing field-based connections in the restructuring of teachers’ college education. Although this course has been established within the framework of the overall curriculum of the Classical Chinese Education Department at Sungshin Women's University, ongoing consideration of the efficacy of "Korean translation" education as a foundational course is imperative. To set an optimal trajectory for the course, a comprehensive exploration is necessary to discern the purpose and methodology of imparting Korean translation skills to undergraduate majors.
