오순절 영성은 임박한 하나님 나라에 대한 열망을 중심으로 형성되어 왔다. 하지만, 종말론에 대한 강조가 약화되면서 종말론 중심의 오순절 영성에 대한 재조명이 요구되어 왔다. 이 논문은 하나님의 나라에 대한 종말론적인 열망에 중심을 둔 오순절 영성을 재조명한다. 오순절 영성을 삼위일체의 관계성과 신학적 인류학(theological anthropology)의 관계성을 통해 재조명함으로써, 묵시적인 오순절 영성을 그리스도와 성령의 사역을 통한 “하나님과의 연합(union with God)”의 수준으로 향상시킨다. “하나님과의 연합”에 대한 열정은 오순절 영성의 핵심이다. 하나님은 인간과의 깨어진 관계를 회복하기 위해 그리스도를 이 땅에 보내셨다. 그리스도의 십자가와 부활을 통해 하나님과의 온전한 연합의 길이 열리게 되었다. 그 연합의 길을 걸어가기 위해서는 성령의 사역이 필수적이다. 왜냐하면 성령은 성도가 그리스도와 온전한 연합을 이루도록 돕기 때문이다. 이러한 의미에서, 그리스도는 하나님과 인간의 관계회복을 위한 중재자(the Mediator)이고, 성령은 인간이 중재자인 그리스도와 연합할 수 있도록 돕는 중재(the Mediation of the Mediator) 역할을 한다. 성령의 사역은 여기에만 머물지 않는다. 그리스도를 중재하는 성령은 교회 공동체 안에서 성도들로 하여금 그리스도를 중심으로 하나 되게 하는 “관계의 영(The Spirit of relationality)”이다. 본 연구는 그리스도와 성령의 역할을 통한 두 가지의 관계성을 제시한다. 한 개인(I)이 하나님과 연합하는 “나와 너(I&Thou union)”의 관계성, 그리고 교회 공동체 안에서 성도들의 연합을 의미하는 “우리(We-union)”의 관계성 안에서, 오순절 영성이 그리스도 안에서(in Christ) 성령을 통한(through the Spirit) 하나님과의 연합(union with God)으로 통합됨을 밝히는데 주력한다. 이러한 시도는 오순절 교단의 균형있는 영성에 대한 방향성을 제공할 뿐만 아니라 외적으로 에큐메니칼 운동을 통한 교파간의 연합을 추구할 수 있는 가능성을 제공한다는 점에서 의미를 찾을 수 있다.
Abstract
Pentecostal spirituality has been formed under the shadow of a passion for the kingdom of God. However, it does acknowledge the many voices that indicate the waning of and decreased focus on eschatology in Pentecostal theology and spirituality. While eschatology remains one of the chief elements of Pentecostal doctrines, it seems that it has lost its central position to motivate Pentecostal spirituality. Therefore, a further revision of Pentecostal spirituality centered on eschatology is required. By re-visioning Pentecostal spirituality through the relationality of the Trinity and theological anthropology, a renewal approach for union with God in Christ through the Spirit will be raised. A Passion for union with God is the heart of Pentecostal (Christian) spirituality. God sent Christ to this earth to restore the broken relationship between God and humanity. Through the cross and resurrection of Christ, the way to achieve union with God was established. Moreover, to complete the intimate relationship with God, the Spirit relates us to Christ. That is, the Spirit is the mediation of the mediator in our union with God. In this sense, union with God through the works of Christ and the Spirit is the heart of Pentecostal (Christian) spirituality. Accordingly, it is under the heading of relationality for union with God that this thesis elucidates inward and outward relationality, in which Christ mediates humanity with God and the Spirit acts as the mediation of relationality. In doing so, I offer a foundation not only to re-configure apocalyptic Pentecostal spirituality but also to establish a renewal concept of union with God in Christ through the Spirit.
