초록
하나님의 형상은 외형적 자질이 아니라 내부적 자질이다. 이 형상은 하나님으로부터 주어진 것이지만 인간의 소유가 될 수 없다. 주체로서 하나님은 자신의 형상을 객체인 인간 안에서 발견한다. 그러므로 하나님의 형상은 존재론적이라기보다 관계적 성격을 가진다. 예수 그리스도는 하나님의 형상 자체이면서, 또한 그 형상을 실천하였다. 더 나아가서 그는 그 형상에 일치하는 삶을 살아감으로써 그 형상이 되었다. 예수 그리스도는 하나님과 일치하는 삶을 통하여 하나님의 형상을 소유한다. 구원받은 인격으로서 새로운 인간은 이미 지금, 여기서 하나님의 형상이며 인 세상 안에서 자신의 새로운 존재를 현실화한다. 이러한 의미에서 하나님 형상에 대한 신학적 성찰은 창조에 대한 전통적이며, 신학적인 관점을 넘어서 윤리적 차원으로 확장된다. 하나님의 형상은 주어진 것일 뿐만 아니라 이루어져야 하는 것이다. 하나님의 구원사역은 그리스도 안에 내재된 자신의 형상을 구원사건을 통하여 인간의 죄된 마음속에 회복하는 것이다. 비록 그것이 이미 분명하게 그리스도 안에서 실현된 것이지만, 인간은 그것을 종말론적으로 성취해야 한다. 하나님의 형상의 원형이며 완전한 인간성의 모본으로서 그리스도는 이 인간성을 십자가와 부활을 통하여 인간을 위해 실현하고, 그를 그 목표를 향하여 인도한다. 하나님의 형상은 아가페의 본질과 기능을 통하여 규정된다. 이웃은 나의 밖에 있는 존재가 아니라 나 자신의 정체성의 근원이다. 예수가 하나님의 형상인 이유는 자신을 형성하는 하나님의 정체성을 인간을 사랑하는 삶을 통하여 완성하였기 때문이다. 하나님의 형상으로서 이웃 사랑은 하나님의 사랑에 기초한다. 사랑하는 사람은 누구든지 하나님의 형상에 참여하며, 하나님의 뜻에 합당하게 존재할 수 있다. 이웃사랑의 실천은 하나님 형상의 실천적 의미를 강조하는 규범적 근거가 된다. 인간 존재는 단지 하나님과의 관계 안으로 창조된 것일 뿐 아니라, 상호간의 교제를 위하여 창조되었다. 이러한 교제의 원리가 바로 사랑이다. 진실한 사랑은 자신을 넘어 관계 안에서 작용한다. 사랑이 작용하기 시작하면서 비로소 인간은 자신의 정체성을 소유하게 된다. 인간의 정체성으로서 하나님의 형상은 오직 하나님 앞에서만 타당한 것이다. 인간은 하나님 형상을 맡은 청지기로서 하나님과 동료 인간을 위하여 책임적 임무를 수행해야 한다. 마치 존재가 항상 행위를 통하여 표현되는 것처럼, 하나님의 은사들은 사명을 통하여 현실화되어야 한다. 그러므로 하나님의 형상은 인간의 기원에 관한 서술일 뿐 아니라 미래와 목표에 관한 서술이다.
Abstract
The image of God is not the internal but the external quality. This image cannot be human possession, even though it is given from God. God as the subject finds his image in the human being as its object. Therefore the image of God has a relational nature rather than ontological one. Being the very image of God, Jesus practiced it. Furthermore he became this image because he lived in accordance with it. Jesus Christ has lived in conformity to God and in this way he bears the image of God. The new man as a redeemed person is already here and now the image of God and actualizes his new being in this world. In this sense theological reflection on the image of God is extended to the ethical dimension beyond the traditional, theological perspective of creation. The image of God is to be accomplished as well as to be given. The saving work of God is to recover his image, which is inherent in Christ, through the event of redemption in sinful mind of man. Even though it must be already realized in Christ, man ought to complete it eschatologically. Christ, who is at once the prototype of God's image and the model of perfect humanity, realized this humanity for man through cross and resurrection and guides him into that goal. The image of God is defined by the nature and function of agape. Neighbor would rather be the source of my identity than exist outside myself. Jesus became the image of God because he accomplished God's identity through his life which represents his love for the mankind. Neighborly Love as God's image is based on God's love. Anybody who practices love participates in the image of God and can exist in accordance with his will. The practice of neighborly love is the normative basis to emphasize the practical meaning of God's image. The human being was created not only in the relation with God, but also for the mutual fellowship. The principle of this fellowship is love. True love works in relation beyond the self. As soon as the love is activated, man begins to possesses his own identity. The image of God as a human identity has the validity only in front of God. Man should carry out the responsible mission for God and his fellow human beings as a steward, who is in charge of the image of God. As the being is always represented through an act, God's gifts should be actualized through the calling. Therefore the image of God is the description about the future and goal of human being as well as his origin.
