로마식과 켈트식 전도 패러다임에 대한 연구

이 연구는 조지 헌터(George Hunter)의 로마식 전도 패러다임을 21세기 한국 교회의 전도 전략 개선을 위해 성서적, 역사적, 실천적으로 분석하였다. 헌터는 로마식 전도를 복음제시, 결신, 공동체 형성으로 이어지는 전도라고 그의 책 Celtic Way of Evangelism에서 규정하였다. 이를 보다 자세하게 분석하기 위하여 초대교회의 전도와 로마의 기독교 국교화 이후에 어떻게 전도가 진행되었는지를 리차드 플래쳐(Richard Fletcher)의 Barbarian Conversion을 중심으로 분석하였다. 이에 로마식 전도의 DNA를 개종을 위한 복음의 단순화, 강요 및 군사적 행위와 문화적 우월성, 형식적인 전도 행위로 정리하였다. 그 다음 로마식 전도의 DNA가 20세기와 21세기를 거쳐 어떻게 유전되고 확산되어 오늘날 한국 교회에 영향을 끼쳤는지를 제시하였다. 그 결과 로마식 전도의 DNA는 한국 교회에 있어서 문화적 편견과 차별, 타종교와의 충돌, 전도를 위한 강요, 성직주의, 교회 건물과 시스템을 중심으로 한 전도 행위로 요약 되었다. 로마식 전도의 대안으로 켈트식 전도를 제시하였다. 켈트식 전도는 로마식 전도와는 정반대의 전도 패러다임을 가지고 실천했다는 점을 제시했다. 첫째, 모든 사람이 하나님께 중요하다는 명제에 충실할 것을 제안했다. 문화적 편견과 차별이 아닌 그리스도 안에서 하나 될 수 있다는 믿음으로 전도를 실천할 것을 제안하였다. 둘째, 건물보다 사람을 먼저 세우는 전도를 실천할 것으로 제안했다. 셋째, 성직주의를 버리고 평신도 전도 지도자를 세우는 일에 전념할 것을 제안했다. 넷째, 작은 교회 일지라도 전도의 자생력을 키울 것을 제안했다.
Abstract
This study is to explore George Hunter’s Roman way of evangelism in biblical, historical, and practical aspects in comparing with the Korean Church’s evangelistic strategies today. In the process, analysis of evangelistic project so called, “Blessing Yeojoo” is employed in order to show one of critical evangelistic issues the Korean Church faces today. The result shows that the evangelistic project of Blessing Yeojoo followed George Hunter’s Roman style of evangelism. Furthermore, this study analyzed DNA of Roman way of evangelism in the history of evangelism according to Richard Fletcher’s Barbarian Conversion. As a result, DNA of Roman way of evangelism is identified as simplification of Christian doctrine, coercion, and using military force, cultural superiority, and superficial evangelism for conversion. And then this study shows how DNA of Roman way of evangelism has been transferred and affected evangelism strategies of the Korean Church today. The result is that the Korean church has a priority on church building rather than building followers of Christ including cultural prejudice, failure of conversations with other religions, clergyism. As an alternative, George Hunter’s Celtic way of evangelism is proposed. Celtic way of evangelism that followed the principle of Jesus’ evangelism was contrast to Roman way of evangelism. Therefore, this study suggests as following: First, the proposition that all sorts of people matter to God should be imbued in evangelism. Second, making disciples is more important than construction of church building. Third, clergyism should be abandoned in order to grow laymen leadership. Fourth, even small church still can grow indigenous abilities for evangelism.
